40K Rumors: Space Wolves Flyer Imminent?
Internet chatter from all over the place is saying Space Wolves Flyers are inbound. Here’s the latest:
Back in May, this very early rumor nugget showed up:
via Lords of War:
“…this will come as no surprise to you after our talk today but I just talked to my sales rep and he told me that their is a new Space Wolf flyer sitting in the warehouse awaiting release right now. He said the skew for it is already in thier computer system. He said the info for it came up in the computer just before the Wood Elf release.”
All was quiet for 2 months, then over the last 24 hours two more rumormongers chimed in from two different websites with the following:
via one of Gary’s anonymous birds 7-19-2014:
Space Wolf Flyer
It will come in 2 versions:
First – 215 points
One – assault transport with TL hell frost cannon
Two fire modes:
– s6 ap3, blast, then it forces a Str test. If the test is failed, the enemy dies
– s8 ap1 , heavy 1 – rest is the same
16 models capacity
Heavy Bolters with MMelta or Skyhammer Option
Second: 220 points
6 models capacity
Hell frost cannon (the same as above)
Storm Strike missile
Both flyers have Machine Spirit and Ceramite plating.
The model will cost as much as a storm raven…
…The Stormfang Gunship has the look of half of a Caestus Assault Ram, and is on the cover of next week’s White Dwarf. The previous rumors really list out its abilities well. It comes with a Helfrost Destructor, two twin-linked heavy bolters, two stormstrike missiles and ceramite plating, with power of the machine spirit.
Heavy bolter upgrades to skyhammer missile launcher or two twin linked multi-meltas
stormstrike missiles can be upgraded to a twin linked lascannon.
Helfrost Destructor
Dispersed 24″ S6 AP3 Hvy1, Helfrost, Large Blast
Focused 24″ S8 AP1, Hvy1, Helfrost, Lance
Stormstrike Missile 72″ S8 AP2 hvy1 Concussive one shot only
Little Bird (Warseer) says:
Before you see the codex you will see something else new under the sun for Space Wolves. Think in terms of the most glaring current gap in the Space Wolves lineup.
I should really have said ‘love-child of a Caestus Assault Ram and a Stormtalon’. That is a better description of the model’s appearance.
And that makes three different folks from three different websites all saying roughly the same thing. In our book, that warrants some actual attention:
~ Really, they named it the Stormfang? I was really rooting for “Boobyclaw”
