40k Showcase: Mk4 Blood Angels Assault Squad
Check out this heavily kitbashed and neatly painted Mk4 Blood Angels Assault Squad. These Astartes are real head-turners!
I’m really pleased with the models. I love how the deep reed armour with the rich yellow helmets turned out. If you’re interested in how I acchieved the look, check out this tutorial. A guide for painting the face can be found here. The blonde hair was basecoated with Averland Sunset, shaded with Gryphonne Sepia (Seraphim Sepia should work as well) and highlighted with P3 Menoth White Base and Highlight (Ushabti Bone and a mix of Screaming Skull and White Scar).
When I created this squad, I wanted something radically different than the regular Assault Squad models I painted for my Ultramarines collection. I thought the single thruster jump packs of Forge World’s Mk4 Assault Squad would look great right next to a squad of Sanguinary Guard. So I combined Mk4 Assault Squads from Forge World with parts from the Death Company and other random parts from my bits box.
There are Mk5 armour parts, plus pieces from the Sternguard, Vanguard and Tactical Squad kits. If you can’t recognize some part, just ask me in the comments. Sadly the new Blood Angels Tactical Squad wasn’t released in time, however I’ll incorporate some of the pieces from this kit in my Death Company.
Originally this squad was meant for an allied Blood Angels detachment for my Ultramarines. However with the new codex, this is no longer possible. The only way to go would be Unbound now. Despite of that, you can look forward to Death Company and Tartaros pattern Terminators in 2015 from me. Just keep an eye on Bell of Lost Souls and Tale of Painters.
How do you like my squad?
