Age of Sigmar: ‘Skaventide’ Pre-Order Bonus Is Pretty Metal

No, seriously. It’s very pretty metal. The Skaventide pre-order bonus is only around for a limited time and stocks are limited.

If you were on the fence about pre-ordering Skaventide for the new edition of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, then Games Workshop is attempting to sweeten the deal. There are a few pre-order bonuses that you can snag depending on how you plan on pre-ordering. Let’s see what they are offering and how you can snag them.

Option 1: Six Double-sided Objective Markers

Warhammer Community provides the details…

“Those who pre-order online through Warhammer.com or at a Warhammer Store’s in-store console can get a set of six double-sided objective markers showing off Skaven and Stormcast Eternals icons. Available while stocks last.”

Okay, so to be clear here: For these six double-sided metal objective markers, you need to pre-order online from Warhammer.com or at a Warhammer Store’s in-store console. Basically, this one is for online orders. Using the in-store console is pretty easy, and most of the time, the Warhammer Store Employees are happy to help you with that pre-order.

Option 2: 12 Metal Command Point Tokens

“If you pick up your copy directly from your local Warhammer store, you can instead score a set of 12 metal command point tokens, split evenly between silver-coloured Stormcast Eternals icons and bronze-coloured Skaven icons. Also available while stocks last.”

So, this option is available for people who pick up your order directly from the Warhammer Store. So, I’m assuming instead of placing your pre-order through the online shop, you actually just place it with the employee at the store and do an in-store pick-up.

I’m also assuming you can’t double-dip here, and the command point tokens are basically for people buying a copy of Skaventide physically at the store. In that case, I’m not really sure if this is a “pre-order” bonus or just a bonus for actually purchasing it physically from the store.

Option 3: Independent Game Store Warhammer Age of Sigmar Journal

“Independent gaming stores are also getting in on the action, with a unique bonus journal going out to select stockists. This slick hardback book features the corrupted twin-tailed comet logo from the new edition on the cover, and pages printed with Warhammer Age of Sigmar iconography throughout.”

This option is a little vague, as the best way to get one is to check “with your local stores to find out if you can get your hands on this notebook through them.” So, again, I’m not sure if this is a pre-order bonus or just something that independent stores will get to hand out as they see fit.

Best Bonus Is…

Of the three, my personal preference would be the metal Objective Markers. Why? Because I don’t have a Skaven or Stormcast army, the command tokens are kind of not my thing. Plus, I know how handy those metal objective markers actually are. A buddy of mine got some metal ones for the last edition as a bonus, and those things are still great to use. They look good, are easy to spot on the table, and are heavy enough so they don’t really slide during your games.

While I would have preferred them to just have numbers instead of the Skaven/Stormcast symbols, I’d still take those over the command tokens or journal. The journal does look nice (if you’re into that type of thing). I’m curious as to why GW just doesn’t sell Warhammer Journals in their merchandise store. And if GW steals my idea, they can feel free to ship one to me.

That said, I do appreciate them tossing your FLGS a bone with the journals. It’s something exclusive to help those stores out. I prefer to shop where I play to help support the local scene when I can.

The pre-orders are going live at the end of June. Considering all of these bonuses are “while stocks last” what are the odds the boxed set sells out before you can get your hands on them?

There are always custom-made Objective Markers…
