Baldurs Gate 3 Patch 7 might be full of endings, but not for the dev team, with more features still in the works for future patches.

Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 7 is here. And it’s already breaking player’s hearts because, it turns out, if you’re being evil, some of the people in your party really don’t like it. People that trusted you not to be evil—you can’t doom the world without hurting a few party members’ feelings, though.

But, Larian Studios doesn’t want to break anyone’s hearts. Which is why the devs are still hard at work on the next things to come for Baldur’s Gate 3. Because while Patch 7 was a big one, it isn’t the last one. There are still some huge features that the devs are looking to add to the game, once they get things just right. And after they make you cry about Alfira at least once more.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Developers Still Plan for More Features Post Patch 7

Tucked away in the patch notes accompanying the latest update, Larian Studios highlighted two new features it hopes to add to the game before too long. These are ones players have been hoping for for a while now: crossplay and photo mode. Crossplay of course, being cross-platform play, not something that you’d need to call on St. Andrew for, but BG3 being what it is, you never know. But soon you’ll be able to play with your friends on XBox or PS5.

Photo mode, of course, is the most anticipated feature, because why have everyone be so hot if you can’t take gorgeous pictures of them. Or horrible pictures of them, if you’re one of those people who can never get the hang of the photo mode camera. I’m curious to see what Larian’s photo mode toolset will look like.

Here’s what Larian Studios had to say:

“We are still working on bringing crossplay to Baldur’s Gate 3, and like Patch 7, this requires a lot of work and testing before we’re prepared to release it into the wild.

We’ve still got a few more patches up our sleeve for Baldur’s Gate 3 – which will include both crossplay and photo mode, alongside other fixes and updates. But eventually all stories must come to an end. As Swen said during last week’s PAX West panel in Seattle – our final live panel for Baldur’s Gate 3 – it’s time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armour on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project.

So there’s still more in the works. Patch 7 isn’t the last hoorah for Baldur’s Gate 3. Though it probably is the last big narrative patch. Which I mostly say, hoping that some Larian developer will prove me wrong with a surprise new final update that none of us saw coming.

At any rate, the nautiloid beckons, and with more stuff to explore, it’s time once again to start another playthrough.
