FANTASY RUMORS: Warriors of Chaos
Pictures of much of the new Warriors of Chaos for Warhammer Fantasy Battle are now splattered all over the Internet. The huge and menacing Chaos Lord on Daemon Steed pictured below seems to pay tribute to what is one of the most wonderful and perhaps the most famous sword-and-sorcery fantasy painting of all time, Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer. Thanks to the folks at The Painted Dragon, there are many pictures of seemingly all the great new Warriors of Chaos sculpts for us to admire.
Some great-sounding rumors about the rules for the new Chaos Warriors are:
– there will be Chaos Trolls and even a Troll character.
– a spell that with a lot of luck can make an entire enemy unit vanish.
– chaos characters must issue challenges where possible and if they win there are potential bonuses because the Chaos gods may be watching.
From what I’m hearing in the Warp, it sounds like Chaos is really getting its due in Fantasy Battle this November. A lot of the character from the early days of the Realm of Chaos is being restored in both the miniatures and the new rules for them.
Like most of our readers here I’m a solid 40K fan and spend most of my time on the 40K side of the hobby, but anything Chaos, be it Fantasy or 40K, always captures my attention. I think these are the best Chaos sculpts for Fantasy since the days when the metal miniatures were lead, which means pre-1995 for those who entered the hobby solidly in the era of pewter alloy. I’m also already thinking about which of these new models can be incorporated into my massive Chaos Marine legion as well as my Fantasy Chaos hordes.
