40K Open Thread – Chaos Possessed
Its a nice weekend and what better time for us all to talk about another of the controversial units in the CSM codex – Chaos Possessed.
These guys have been lambasted since their random power chart first leaked even before the Codex was on shelves, and even today they are a divisive unit in the minds of many players.
The anti-stance says that they are overcosted (especially when marked) and the very existence of the random power chart makes them useless as a dependable unit in any serious CSM list. It is said that there are far more effective units vying for the treasured Elites slots in the CSM codex that make Possessed non-starters.
The adherents say that in 5th edition, the random powers rolled on the chart are almost all potent. Certain marks (Tzeentch & Khorne) give you either a rock hard bodyguard unit (4+ invulnerable) or a “hyped up berzerker squad” both of which can be used reliably by veteran players.
So today’s open thread is what’s your take on Possessed units? How do you equip them with marks and unit options, and how do you use them effectively on the tabletop taking the random power chart into account?
