Wargaming ASKEW: Too much time…

Last week I went down memory lane with the video game Final Liberation. On my journey through Youtube (between Autotune and Justin Bieber), I discovered a multitudinous amount of Wargaming videos. I am not referring to the myriad of “how to” or “battlereports” that fill the bandwidth of our niche. I am talking the other ones like where the wild things grow. A place where wargamers play dress up or sit in front of a computer while playing with Blender.

Among the stinkers there is actually an amazing amount of good quality stuff. Of course, this is nothing new ever since Troopers the Star Wars Cops spoof the Internet and Fandom has never been the same. So here is what I consider the film student, craft projects, and professional works gone mad from the world of Wargaming…

This first video is a great short CGI render of a Dreadnought from years back — looking better than anything I’ve seen even up to today.

This next video I have no idea who made it. I guess they were shown at some Gamesday in the 90s so maybe GW is behind it.

Space Hulk Video (Sorry have to click the link)

Another great CGI project. Now if only Dark Angels were cool today as they were when this movie was made.

Here is one of my favorite videos. How how on a budget you can go long way. Never knew a trench coat and gas mask had more uses then just for chemical spills or the bedroom.

Now we get into the real dedicated folks. I don’t really want to know how hot and heavy these suits are, but have to give credit for the time and effort.

Most people have seen pictures of these great Space Marine costumes. In this video though we get to see all the parts and pieces used to put the Marine together.

Now here is an animated movie that was cancelled. BLOODQUEST! I just love the first gen marines and zappy Land Raider.

But, no fan project has had as much infamy as the Damnatus movie. This film is under lock and key in some German warehouse, probably never see the light of day. Take a look at this trailer from 2005 simply amazing for B rate action movie.

This movie even has Youtube petitions to allow its release.

If you want to know more check out the Damnatus website at…

It is a shame that Damnatus was locked away, consigned forever to the memory hole. GW could of gone the route of George Lucas, embracing the creative mind as Lucas Studios did with the guys that made Troopers.

There are plenty more fan made videos and projects on the Internet if you have a chance take a look around and support them.
