Well the voting is all over, and the BoLS readers have spoken.  Lets take a look at the best wargaming products of 2010 as chosen by you for Plastic Mini, Metal Mini, and Rules/Army Book of the year….

Best Plastic Miniature – 2010
For design and technical excellence in a mass-produced injection plastic miniature
Khador Battlegroup – Privateer Press
Dark Eldar Wyches – Games Workshop
Dark Eldar Ravager – Games Workshop

Blowing all others out of the water, the Sanguinary Guard definitely made a connection with the playerbase worldwide.  With almost twice the votes of second place, the winged, nipple-clad, dripping-with-detail elite of the Blood Angels would not be held at bay. Apparently all the controversy surrounding the kit when it was first unveiled turned out to be generally a vote of confidence. Even the superb Dark Eldar plastics fell to their wrath.

Best Metal/Resin Miniature – 2010
For design and technical excellence in a low-medium production run metal or resin miniature
Lelith Hesperex – Games Workshop
Magister Sevrin Loth – Forgeworld (GW)
Dark Eldar Incubi – Games Workshop
Farrow War Hog – Privateer Press

Straight from the hand of Juan Diaz, Lelith is a piece that almost transcends the genre. At once beautiful, graceful, truly feminine (not the triple-d fanboy motifs so often seen), with a look of deadly skill, Lelith may be the best female model out of Games-Workshop ever.  Considering its short time on the market, the readers were truly gaga over Ms. Hesperex.

Best Rule-Army Book – 2010
For innovation, and quality game design in a printed rulebook or army supplement
Codex: Dark Eldar – Games Workshop
Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition – Games Workshop
Das Book – Battlefront

It was a close run thing, but this was Privateer Press’ year.  Once “that other miniatures game”, Warmachine got a full re-balance and tune up in it’s January 2010 2nd Edition and never looked back.  Tightly worded and build for competitive play, the ruleset was first out of the gate and followed by 10 armybooks and Hordes MkII in 2010. Warmachine is firmly on the map as a force in wargaming and here to stay. With the expense of the wargaming hobby any way you slice it, you would be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck than the $29 softcover Warmachine Prime Mk.II rulebook.

Congratulations to the well deserved winners, and we are looking forward to 2011 with bated breath.  Awards will be going out shortly.  Have at it folks!
