Welcome to another “This Week in 40K Podcasting,”  Here is this week’s top 5!
Highlights:  This week the guys are joined by the famous Andy Chambers!  They open up with some news and new releases from GW and the Black Library.  Then, the guys interview Andy Chambers, and he shares his experiences with moving 40K from 2nd to 3rdedition.  He discussed the design philosophy at the time, where the game was at the time and where they wanted to see it move to.  They then continue on with their interview with Andy Chambers and they discuss his latest projects, including new games and working with the Black Library.  They then move on to what they have been doing lately in gaming and the hobby.  After that, the boys review the latest White Dwarf, hitting a lot on the new Necron model releases.  To close out the show, Dagmire has a review of Hive of the Dead, a chose your own adventure book from the Black Library.
Opinion:  This was a great episode, if only to hear from one of the founding fathers of 40K, Andy Chambers!  The interview with him was amazing, and to be able to hear about how the games evolved and why from someone who did the work on it was outstanding.  They book-ended it with a great book review from Dagmire, one which may have changed my mind on buying something from the Black Library.
Highlights:  This week’s show the guys are joined by Mike and this one is mostly dedicated to Berks’ Spring Assault 2012.  They open up the show with Opy’s Super-Secret reveal of his army.  They move on to discuss what they have been doing lately in the hobby and gaming.  Then, the guys cover the news and new releases announced over the last few weeks, and some of the rumors out there.  Next up was their signature ‘Battle Report’, and this week the guys get their ‘new model vs. new model’ battle one, Tyranids vs Space Wolves.  They give a brief description of the mission, deployment, the table, and the lists.  Then was the dramatization of the actual battle, followed up by a review of the game.  This one had a pretty funny ending!  Then, they guys close out the show with a full review of Berks’ Spring Assault 2012.  Andy joins the crew and those who participated in the event talk about the armies they took and the games that they played.  They also discuss what the liked and did not like at this year’s event.
Opinion:  Yet again another high quality podcast from the Turn 8 crew!  This week was mostly dedicated to ‘Berk’s Spring Assault 2012’, from all sorts of angles and was a ton of fun.  And the Battle Report was once again outstanding, with a good ending!  This show just makes me smile, and I enjoy each and every show, great work guys.
Highlights:  The ‘Army for Noobs’ series rolls on this week, as the boys review Codex Space Marines.  The boys are joined by Dan this week and open up the show with news and new releases, and this included a good painting/priming discussion and the final 16 at Adepticon.  They then move on to their review of Codex Space Marines, for the new player.  They talk about the benefits of the Black Reach set for the new player, and how the army is played overall, with Special Characters able to change how it is played.  They then run down each of the units in the codex and discuss their usefulness and some basic marine tactics found for those units.  They also discuss painting Space Marines and how flexible they can be for converting.
Opinion:  This week the guys get a do-over of their second episode as they re-reviewed Codex Space Marines and they do a very good job at it.  I personally like the conversation on painting and priming before the main segment, as it had a few tips I had not heard before.  And of course they did a good job covering the Marines.  Good work guys!
Highlights:  This week the gang is post-Adepticon (some sick) and are joined in studio by the Mighty Tim.  They open up the show with their hobby and gaming progress, including Dave’s upcoming Apoc game, and some news and new releases.  Next, in ‘Kiss My List’, Jen and Erin reviewed some guys’s (they are not sure who now) Codex Space Marine list, led by Pedro.  Then, Raymond from Grex’s Airbrush led a segment on the proper techniques to cleaning your air brush.  Next, they reviewed some of the painting and hobby classes that they attended at Adepticon this year.  Then, in ‘Girls on Gaming’, Jen and Erin talk about some young fans they met at Adepticon, and give an overall recap of their experience at Adepticon.  After that, Craig from BitzBox talk about their latest Skarbrand conversion, and some Orks he has been working on.  To close out the show, the cast discuss the contests they have been running, will be running, or that have closed out.  They give all of the details for their next round of contests, tips for avoiding airbrush ‘dry tip’ and clogging issues, and an interview with Mr. Justin from Secret Weapon Miniatures.
Opinion:  This show was jam packed with 40K hobby goodness, and tons of fun.  They did have an awful lot to say about Adepticon, from the great classes they attended to all of the people they met and hung out with.  And then it was just one great segment after another, on airbrushes, painting, hobbying, the girls at the con, and much, much more.  I’d have to say it was one of their best shows so far, I loved it!
Highlights:  The gang is back after taking a week off for Adepticon and they open up the show with ‘This Week in Gaming’.  This included Pat’s most recent RTT and Neil’s review of his games at Adepticon.  Next, Neil had a series of interviews with people at Adepticon.  He talked to ‘Blackmoor’, Nick Rose, Paul Murphy, Reese from Frontline Gaming, ‘Hulksmash’, Matt Weeks and many more!  Next up in ‘Pat’s Corner’, Pat has an interview with DarkRaptor and they discuss the Tau list he took to the Bay Area Open.  Pat also talked to Alex from Apocalypse40K, Brian from GentlemensOne, Austin from Brown’s Customer Terrain, and EvilEd (Yours Truly) from Bell of Lost Souls.  To close out the show, Pat and MarkDawg have an audiobook review of ‘Eye of Vengeance’.
Opinion:  From Adepticon to the blog-o-sphere, this was a very interview heavy show this week, which is understandable post Adepticon.  There were so many internet celebrities, Matt Weeks, and tournament players from all over to hear from this week!  Oh, and if you want to hear my voice, I am here too (thanks for the interview Pat!).  Plus, Neil’s review of his experience at this first Adepticon was great to hear.  Great job guys!
