SHOWCASE Conversion Corner- Necron Walker Contest Winner
This amazing Necron Walker conversion was submitted to a Hobby Contest, and was the runaway winner. I wanted to share it with everyone who may have missed it because well it’s very well done!
I took the liberty of splitting up the submitted college picture so we can take a closer look at it. It was submitted by Johnathan Ho, and it rocks.
Here’s a brief description from Johnathon of how he did it:
The model is made from an Annihilation Barge, Triarch Stalker, 1/5 of a Ghost Ark, 2 Tomb Blades, and parts from a Drop Pod.
I use the model as a counts-as Necron Annihilation Barge. I have 3 of these in my army; the oval base is the same footprint as a stock Annihilation Barge (albeit sideways), and the tips of the guns are mounted at the same height as the stock Annihilation Barge, so I don’t cheat opponents out of cover saves. I use true LoS with the model so it’s harder for me to claim cover saves and it’s far easier to spot the model (since it stands about 7″ tall), but being a skimmer I almost always have a 5+ Jink save anyways so it’s not a huge deal.
I also have a fourth converted as a Command Barge, and will probably get around to building a second Command Barge at some point…
Inspiration drawn heavily from District 9 when I was planning the prototype (I say “planning”, and I really mean dry-fitting parts for 9-10 hours until everything made sense).
