Highlights:This week it is another massive 4+ hour show. This is completely dedicated to Josh Robert’s Adepticon report where he made it to the top 16.Dave, Josh, and Nathan sit down to cover day two of this amazing event!Josh opened up with is game 6 in the finals where he played Allan ‘Blackmoor’ Hernandez from the 11th Company who played Grey Knights.Josh went into great detail about this game, covering almost every blow and his thoughts through the match.Next, Josh recanted the tale of his legendary battle with the eventual winner Nick Nanavati that came down to VPs to determine the winner!Next, Josh battled Aaron Aleong in his final game and Aaron had just barely lost to Tony Kopach. This one had a bit of a sour ending and some tension as well.Josh then discussed his overall experience; from finishing 3rd place overall and Head Tactician, tables and terrain, his thoughts on scoring, and much more.To close out the show, Josh responded some questions from their Facebook fans specifically about Adepticon.
Opinion:This week’s show was a great completion to the full Adepticon tournament experience, and it really was something I enjoyed. These were some of the top players in the world battling it out for the top spots and Josh was kind enough to share he’s thought processes during these matches. There was so much tactical advice in here; I had to listen to it twice.Very impressive guys, and good showing Josh!
Highlights:This week the boys get back to their review of Codex Daemons! They open up the show by discussing building a competitive Eldar list, and this included some discussion about the rumored new Eldar Codex. They also answered some listener emails.Next, the boys got back to their review of Codex Daemons, starting off with the Troop Choices, such as Bloodletters, Pink Horrors, Plague Bearers, Deamonettes and tactics for each entry! They then moved on to the Elite section where they discussed the whooping four choices: Bloodcrushers, Flamers, Beasts of Nurgle, and Fiends. They then moved on to the Fast Attacks, hitting on Flesh Hounds, Screamers, Seekers, and much more! Then the guys moved on to the Heavy Support choices, which included the Skull Cannon, the Soul Grinder, and the many chariots. They closed out the show with some tactics they have been using or seen used with this army that show off how good of a book it is.
Opinion: So glad to have these guys back in the swing of things! This week’s show was jammed packed full of Daemon goodness!Overall, the two shows were a fairly complete review of this Codex that I’d recommend to everyone! If you’re a Daemon player or just want to learn what you might expect to see from this army, here is a great place to learn all you can about this army!Great show guys, I really enjoyed it!
Highlights: The guys are back after a month between shows due to Adepticon and they opened up with what they have been up too lately.Next up was News and Rumors where they discussed the Top 16 at Adepticon, Gamesday 2013, and the latest releases from the Black Library, Forgeworld and more. This moved on to a more detailed look at Imperial Armor 12, from their pros and cons of this beautiful book. They them moved on to respond to some emails from their listeners, which included a response to TastyTaste and his anti-40K Radio/Romeo campaign and the cease and desist order they issued to Blood of Kittens. There were a lot of facts presented here and Romeo’s side of the story.Next, in the Black Library Corner, Kyle led a discussion about the book ‘Brotherhood of Storm’ by Chris Wraight, a limited edition novella. Then in the ‘Tactica’ segment of the show, Kyle and Rik discussed a 2000 point game that they played between Daemons and the Blood Angels.Next, ‘In the Crosshairs’ focused on the brand new Tau Codex. They opened up with their initial reactions to the book before moving on to cover the Special Rules for the army. They move on to discuss the HQ and some of the early synergies they open up.They then moved on to look at what they believed to have changed for the better, including Crisis Suit Teams, Broadsides, the awesome Riptide, the new Flyers and much more! They also discussed the background fluff of some of the Special Characters and how they have been fleshed out. They then moved on to discuss what they believe will be the typical look and feel of a good Tau army.
Opinion:So, I have a half-and-half feel from this week’s show, and we might as well get it out there right off the start:Despite his best of intentions (which I acknowledge) to set records straight and discuss possible repercussion of anonymous internet columns, Romeo’s rant about his latest lawsuit (there have been other that did not go so well for him) comes off less like a Battlefoam official response and more like Romeo trying to explain his bullying someone else via legal action. For quite some time I have heard of Romeo’s reputation and that it drives customers away from Battlefoam, and outstanding product. This only reinforces that stereotype, and you’re doing it to yourself, which I cannot understand at all! This whole thing left a very bad taste throughout the show and I had to stop and pick the rest of the show another day just to get past it.The rest of the show, you know the part where Romeo wasn’t once again using his podcast as a vehicle to his business and now legal battles, great, outstanding, still top notch podcasting guys!Kyle and Rik, you guys rock.I’ll let you make the decision on this one.For me, I could have done without this week’s show despite the great 40K content.
Highlights: This week the boys opened up the show with some new jingles, one sung by Carl from the Independent Characters podcast, and special guest David joins the show! They then moved on to the news, which included the new wave of FAQs from GW, the swinging of the IP hammer by GW, some announcements and more. They moved on to talk about what they have been doing lately in the hobby and gaming.Next, the boys sat down and took a look at the ‘Only War’ Role Playing Game from Fantast Flight Games. They opened up by discussing the basic game system and how to do things in the game with the dice rolls. They move on to discuss the world of ‘Only War’ in that is a very Imperial Guard centered game, and their ‘Careers’ and Races show this. They move on to discuss the character creation process, the attributes, a bit more about the mechanics of the game, the role-playing and the loot! They also discussed some of their experiences in their own campaign.Next, the guys moved on to a pre-recorded segment that was a session of the ‘Relic’ board game by Fantasy Flight Games. So they basically left the mics on while they played a game of Relic, and this was more fun than it sounds. They talked about the game as they played it and reviewed it.Next, the guys discussed the modeling and painting aspects of ‘Only War’ and all of the open possibilities your imagination can provide. Jason closed out the show with an interview with Ciaran who had just returned from Adepticon 2013!Ciaran discussed the 40K GT, the 40K Friendly event, the Gladiator, and the Team Event. He also talked about his overall experience, the things that he saw, new games that he played, and much more.He also discussed his experience in the 40K Friendly event and the fun they had with Spinal Tap!
Opinion: Ok, so this week’s show had very little to do with 40K directly, however it did have an awful lot to do with 40K sub games, which still kept me enthralled, so it counts in my book.Only War seems like an awesome game and for those RPG players out there, I highly recommend this one as a first look at the game.As for the Relic game, I really wish they would have just started recording and let it run all night.Sounds like we missed a great time!Overall, a good show guys!
Highlights:This week’s show is a brief one, just a filler show in-between shows, dedicated to Carl’s trip to the UK and Warhammer World! They opened up the show discussing his experience in the UK, which included the food and some bar hoping and public transportation. They moved on to discuss Salute 2013, meeting Daryl from KR Multicase and the guys from the Overlords, and everything else that he saw there like meeting some Black Library authors and picking up some Forgeworld. He then discussed his time with the Overlords and their gaming group, meeting all of the guys, playing at the club and more. Then, Carl went for a visit to the KR Multicase Factory!Next it was off to Warhammer World, the headquarters of Games Workshop!Carl discussed the awesome tables and terrain, the joy of the overall experience, and much more.
Opinion:This week’s show was sort of 40K light, however there was still quite a bit of 40K related material in here to make my top five.First, who here isn’t jealous of Carl’s tip, I know I am!So it was cool to listen to his reflection to the ultimate 40K nerd’s dream.Wish I could have been there man!
