Rumor Roundup – GW Status & Apocalypse

The big rumor that is now merely news, is that July 6th will see Apocalypse Second edition.
While Apocalypse stormed onto the scene in 2008, it has needed some house rules to be playable in a fair and balanced way, and it is hoped rules similar to what almost every Apocalypse club I knows plays, will make their way into the new edition.

The cover of the new White Dwarf is all about Apocalypse:

What else do we know?  Well rumored models are:
A large Imperial Walker, (smaller than a warhound titan)

Possible Chaos Variant (might have been mistaken for the Lord of Battles)

a bunch of missing plastic models known to be created but possibly held back for the Apocalypse release:
-Eldar Bomber
-Eldar “large hover tank”
-IG Hydra
-IG Medusa/Colossus
-Tyranid Harpy

A Chaos Khorne Lord of Battles:

-A large chaos vehicle from EPIC with a large tracked body, and a giant mechanical torso of a warrior of khorne. One hand holds a colossal chain axe, the other is a large gatling barrelled weapon. A gigantic daemon engine on par with a scout titan.

A large flying Necron “Megalith”

-An oversized Monolith shaped vehicle on a flying stand that can “open up” into its four corners, with internal attachments to reveal a central spherical set of internal machinery.

And via The Dark General on Warseer:

It’s a dual kit approx size of baneblade box, but taller model. Makes either the Deathdealer or Lord of Battles.
Also there’s a bunch of new data sheets, inlcuding some for those of us that bought multiple NEW models

It’s also NOT the only Chaos models coming out, along with a few other Khorne…speedy guys…

Approx price is $125

Is Games Workshop being sold?

In addition there are a LOT of rumors flying around, with one major 3rd party company sharing the news that GW is in the process of being bought or undergoing some type of change of ownership/control. To those of us with experience in the world of M&A, Games Workshop has looked like a company readying itself for sale for quite some time: shedding expensive staff, cutting costs, raising prices, and recently losing CEO Mark Wells.  While no one fact has been established this, there is just so much scuttlebutt, it bears watching.  If true, note that Games Workshop is a publicly traded company. I will not be surprised if we hear some type of shareholder announcement by the end of the month.
