Corvus Belli created the ITS (Infinity Tournament System) for those that want to enjoy Infinity in a competitive format. If you’d like to participate in an ITS what do you need to do?
In a previous article by Levitas, he reviewed some of the new missions available in the ITS tournament pack and his experience at an ITS Tournament. If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to take a look. This article will answer, “What things should someone new to Infinity do before they attend an ITS tournament?”
First step… you need to have an Infinity forum account. If you do not have one, go to the official Infinity Forum and click on “Create Account” in the top right hand corner. Fill in the form to create your forum username.
Secondly… you need to have an ITS account. The link to create an ITS account can be found here. While the registration process is fairly straight forward, the following is a quick “help” guide.
- Name – Your Name.
- Commander – The fictitious name of the commander that you have come up with to run your squad. I have often seen most people simply use their Forum UserName.
- Nick In the Official Forum – Remember that first step…. this is why. Put your forum username here.
- Mail – Email address.
- Country – Select your country from the drop down list.
After your registration is successful, you will have an ITS pin. Make sure you have that with you whenever you are at the tournament. When the tournament organizer wants to put the results into the system…. the PIN is critical!
Step Three…. Become familiar with ITS rules. There are some army lists you can generate in Infinity Army (the army list generator hosted on the Infinity Website) that are not usable in ITS. A complete listing of what is allowed can be found here. One of the biggest restrictions is that Mercenaries are not allowed unless they are explicitly specified as an option of a sectorial list.
Step Four… Season 4 of the ITS introduced multiple styles of ITS game play. More specifically, it included options for Spec-Ops models as well as ITS Scenarios. If the ITS tournament you are playing is using either of these options, be sure that you’re aware of what that might entail.
The Fifth and Final Step… Be sure to check to make sure you know of any tournament specifics. Army lists sizes, table sizes, number of army lists you’re allowed to bring, etc.
