Hi everyone and welcome to the next part of the M2E series looking at master changes, this time we will take a look at the Resurrectionists.

There have been some major changes with these, mainly in the fact we are looking at our first non Ten Thunders dual faction Master in McMourning who can now work for the Guild as well, we will get to Zoraida as well when we look at the Neverborn and her dual faction links to the shiny new Gremlin faction.
These are based off the final M2E Beta rules pack from the 5th July.

Seamus

Everyone’s favourite serial killer is back and more deadly in M2E, he is also much more fun, and a lot of his abilities tie into the whole Jack the Ripper sort of theme.
The Jack the Ripper theme is especially expressed in the combo of his new ability ‘Back Alley’ and his upgrade ‘Red Chapel Killer’. This ability lets him move up to 10″ (16″ with a trigger) between blocking terrain or with the upgrade to friendly scheme markers. This gives Seamus great versatility and makes him very fast. Combine this with the Bag O’Tools upgrde for a decent melee attack (as fluffy as Backhand I, it is a little weak on the damage front) or just his good old Flintlock and he can pop out of cover, shoot or strike, then with the other part of the ‘Red Chapel Killer’ upgrade, use the model you just killed as a (0) Distraction, then Back Alley to safety.
Seamus still has his old tricks, he is still Terrifying, although this now applies to all models which is very nice.  He has the new ability ‘Impossible to Wound’ which means the opponent cannot cheat damage full stop, and suffer a negative like Hard to Wound. Combined with his Hard to Kill he can be quite durable.
As you can tell from the picture of the Copycat Killer at the top of this post, the Big Hat is more important than ever, this actually gets rules now, in ‘Mad Haberdasher’, this upgrade can be dropped to negate damage to 0, this can then be picked up by them or other models and his can repeat, even the most basic models like Rotten Belles become very durable with this.
Finally he still likes his “Belles”, he can still summon one model with the Belle characteristic with his (0) action ‘Arise my Sweet’. And he still boosts their Walk with his upgrade or Sybelle’s ‘Not Too Banged Up’. They are still good minions for him, they can Lure and Slow the enemy and prevent them from walking, Meaning other models can take advantage, though we will have to wait for the rules for Dead Doxies to be released to see more potential Seamus and Belle interactions.

McMourning

With McMourning he plays very differently as Guild compared to his traditional Resurrectionist mode, so we will look at him separately as Guild McMourning has more manipulative abilities whilst Resurrectionist McMourning is a summoner and more efficient poison manipulator.

McMourning on his base card is all about melee damage and dishing out poison, aswell as being fairly durable with Hard to Wound and healing up to 5 wounds per activation with his ‘Organ Donor’ ability. His Evidence Tampering upgrade is really useful, turning enemy scheme markers friendly can be game winning, the access to a 6″ melee (0) action in ‘Scalpel Slinging’ is just the icing on the cake.

Resurrectionist McMourning
Moonlighting gives him access to Guild Lawyers and Guild Guard, giving some good ranged potential for a resser crew. This also gives him access to his summoning mechanisms, firstly just an Aura where if a model dies from Poison then ‘Road Kill Scholar’ gives you a Canine Remains. He also gets a trigger to Expunge, where if you kill a model with this action you use the ‘Abra Cadaver’ trigger to get a Flesh Construct.

Guild McMourning
His On the Clock ability gives him access to Nurses and McMourning, Nurses in particular help a guild crew, they make a nice one-two combination with an Executioner as she can buff his melee damage. The also enable him to pass out Precise, this is great for long range models like Nino Ortega or basic models like Guild Guard who often have a low damage spread.

Nicodem

In M2E Nicodem is still the master of summoning, he is built rules wise to enable him to efficiently summon a lot of models should he be able to, it is now harder to summon the big beasties, but it is now easier to summon the cheaper minions, so you can tailor what you summon to what cards you have in hand and the corpse counters available.

All his abilities and upgrades make his summoning more efficient, easier or better. Firstly his base abilities Death’s Whip and Corpse Conductor means models summoned are not Slow and they also get positives to Melee and Casting actions, combine this with the Undead Crowning ability from his Nectotic King upgrade to give positives to damage flips means you can really get the most from all of your models.

His summoning comes from his Reanimator ability, this has a casting based on the cost of the model you want to summon, menaing its easy to summon something cheap but something more complex will take a great deal of effort and cards, he has an ability to make this easier though called Embrace Death, he can discard any number of Corpse Counters within 6″ when he activates giving him +1Ca for each, so if you have a bad hand you can use this to make any all important summoning easier.
