SHOWCASE: Chaos Deamons by Kenny Boucher
I love to see the work of an artist and Kenny’s Chaos Deamons don’t dissapoint. Come and marvel at the hobby skills.
I would say the biggest technology to shake up the hobby in the last 5 years is the airbrush. Now that’s a funny statement as the airbrush has been around for decades. But it seems more and more that scale modeling techniques get “discovered” by the wargaming community and are popping up everywhere.
Now let’s talk a bit about Kenny’s Chaos Daemons. What I love the most about these, is that Kenny is using the gradual gradient color transitions the airbrush makes possible, not for gritty realism or weathering like you commonly see, but for eye-popping high saturation color shifts. It takes a bold artist with confidence to lay on such bright colors atop each other, but Kenny has managed to not only master the technique, but pull off a truly “other-worldly” look for his Deamons.
The army demands attention on the tabletop, and is a real head-turner. You can appreciate the technique across such models as the relatively smooth and simple Screamers, to the techno hard-edged Heldrake. Two kits world’s apart in design and detail level that have been pulled together by a single powerful painting technique.
Enjoy!
