Team America 40K – Europe – And here we GO!

Hello Everyone – Greg Sparks (Inquisitor_Malice) here. It’s been a while since I have had an opportunity to post a Team America 40K update. Our focus has been squarely on the upcoming event. Even as I type this article, I know the entire team continues to prepare for the 2013 ETC.

In under one week, Team America 40K will be traveling to Novi Sad, Serbia to play in the 2013 ETC. Several team members are traveling ahead of the team event to participate in the European Singles Championship in which last year’s champion (our very own Alan Bajramovic) is returning to defend his title. Good luck to Tony, Mitch, Andrew, Alan and Nick.

Practice Make Perfect

This year has seen a number of changes implemented for the team. Our first team practice weekend ever resulted in everyone traveling to Toledo, OH to train for the event. Yes, you heard that right – Train. Train and Train harder. Every single team member made the practice, which is an accomplishment in of itself with the geographical spread and many conflicting schedules. I want to thank the entire team and practice players for attending and helping to make this a successful event. Bill Kim provides a solid recap, which can be found here at the Team America Practice Weekend Recap.

Coupling this practice along with having the majority of our player selection completed by February has allowed us to prepare and practice for a number of months. The changing of our qualification time frame now has the entire team being determined by the end of November. We will be able to prepare a full eight months prior to the event.

2013 Team Assembled

Nick Nanavati has joined the 2013 team in place of Ben Mohlie who had to drop out due to personal business reasons. Nick was brought on as a captain’s choice, which is ideal since he is the AdeptiCon 2013 Warmaster and therefore has qualified for the 2014 team. An extra year of experience never hurts anyone.

Traveling each year to Europe offers challenges and this one is no exception. Within the past week, Joe “The Hammer” Cherry elected to step down due to a serious family medical issue. While Team America 40K is a priority to everyone on the team, family is first and foremost. I along with our fellow team members hope for a speedy recovery to the best that is possible for Joe’s family.

Finding a sub at this point in the game is challenging at best. However, as luck has it and through a gracious contribution from Joe – Ben Cromwell has taken up the Chaos banner and will be joining the 2013 team over in Serbia.

Based on these developments, the current roster is:

Mitch Tucker (Coach)

2014 and Beyond

Yes, we are already looking at 2014. As mentioned earlier, Nick Nanavati qualified for the 2014 team via the AdeptiCon 40K Championships. Ben Mohlie also qualified at WargamesCon 2013. So two of the 2014 team members are already known.

For those interested qualifying for the team, we have a qualification event at the NOVA Open 40K Grand Tournament. The Wildcard position is also still up for grabs at Feast of Blades and DaBoyz GT. Full qualification requirements can be viewed at Team America 40K Qualifications.

Team America swag offerings will be expanding soon. We have some really cool products in the loop. So keep an eye out through our Team America 40K Facebook page and website.
