40K/WFB Rumor Roundup 9-22-13
There are a lot of rumors out there, and a lot of them are contradictory. Some are even just plain wrong. So Larry here at BoLS has taken to grading rumors based on reliability of the source and verification.
I think this is an excellent idea, as so much of what passes for “rumors” these days are merely speculation. So let’s start with the Imperial Guard rumors Larry posted here on BoLS this week.
Imperial Guard
These rumors come to us in multiple sets, and we have ordered them from most trustworthy to least based on a variety of “truthifying methods”:
The Probable stuff:
IG Veterans/Stormtroopers (plastic 5-man box)
Hydra
Artillery combo-kit
Roughriders (new plastic box)
The Possible stuff:
IG Regiment Doctrines: Each Regiment (Cadian, Catachan, etc…)has doctrines, similar to SM Chapter tactics. Examples listed were:
Cadians – may issue 2 orders to a unit
Catachans – Move-thru-cover, and Jungle Fighter (???)
Thunderbolt flyer: Very heavy armor, but cannot jink.
The Salt-mine
Imperial Robots – 2 new robots, requiring an Admech handler/enginseer.
Knight Paladin – Taller than riptide, not as tall as Wraithknight. Vanquisher cannon and Uber-chainsword are standard load out. May upgrade to Punisher Cannon, Uber-Fist with Inferno Flamers
40K-WFB Release Schedule
40K Radio has an inside source that skipped them the Space Marine codex weeks in advance. They have specifically said that this has been the release schedule all the time and that NOTHING has been “pushed back”.

March: IG
Everything I have heard corroborates this. Dark Elves are next and Tyranids are January.
Dark Elves
The latest word reported to 40K Radio, Faeit, and BoLS are all independently saying that Warhammer Fantasy Dark Elves is shaping up to be a big fancy 2-Month release window with all of those plastic kits listed here coming out. They will be the stars and main attraction at Gamesday UK.
This is almost unheard of.
We have a Warhammer Fantasy army reported to be taking up two months leading up to the holidays. Apparently Games Workshop is prepping for a giant “Dark Eldar” style update to the Dark Elves range and wants to give it some breathing room.

Advanced order/White Dwarf: Sat 28th Sept. (so the studio can talk about them at UK GD)
Ships Sat 5th Oct.

Now everyone is still hearing that Tyranids are still the next 40K codex, so no change there, but these reports place them in January (December is holiday bundles and Hobbit this year), to kick off the year in the same slot Dark Angels were in 2013.

So the 40K rumors are all IG and Tyranids at this point. Fantasy is all Dark Elves.
Just make sure you take everything with a critical eye. There is a lot of speculation out there a few untested anonymous sources. And let’s face it, everyone can’t all be right.
