Hordes New Releases Unboxed – September 2013

We’ve already done two Warmachine unboxings this month. Now it’s time for Hordes to get its turn.

Let’s go ahead and start with the two new Trollblood infantry releases. Like so many of Privateer’s other plastic kits, these guys share a lot of parts. That’s why I’m going to be unboxing them together – so you don’t have to look at a lot of repeated bits.

So… whether you’re making Warders or Champions, these are the bits you’ll be using: torsos, legs, some armor plates, and of course some kegs.

A size comparison with an old champ (that’s right, the champs are a resculpt). Even without his head glued on yet, you can still see how much more massive this guy is than one of his metal predecessors. People have been complaining for years the Champ sculpts were too small. Not a problem anymore.

And here’s a closer look at one of those kegs.

Now lets move on to what the kits don’t have in common. These weapons will only be found in the Trollkin Champion kit.

These arms are just about as beefy as you could hope for.

Champ heads. I like how the “nose” on the helmet has been toned back a bit, and made a bit more stubby than on the metal incarnation. Unfortunately the kit no longer has head options. Unlike the previous champ kit here is no helmet free head option.

Unless you count the Kithkar. He doesn’t have a helmet.

While I like these sculpts a lot, and I’m really stoked about the size, I did find the mold-lines on the Warder kit in particular to be kinda tough to clean. I just have to keep reminding myself this kit would probably cost twice the price if it were in metal.

For our next release we have a new warbeast for Circle: the Razorwing Griffon.

Some very literal razor wings here. Yes, if you haven’t seen the rules, this guy can make attacks with those wings.

Last up we have a new Minion/Merc: the Gobber Tinker.

That’s a lot of bits for a 1 pt solo. For me it’s worth it though. I really love this guy and his cart full of junk.
