Everybody get out your brushes. It’s time to finish up these Gun Mages.

Ok, first things first – go catch up with Part 1 if you’re not up to speed.  Back?  Now its time to continue.

To get started on the gold-satin trim of their coats, I lay down a basecoat of Iyanden Darksun

Once I have a good foundation, I paint the trim with a 60/40 mix of Cygnus Yellow and Bloodtracker Brown. I blend some Umbral Umber and Beaten Purple into the gold to shade it.

Menoth White Highlight is blended into the gold for a highlight. Stark contrasts always help to define an NMM technique. While this is supposed to represent a satin rather than a metal, they both have a similar sheen.

To finish it ff I add a thin line of Menoth White Highlight across the top, and a thin line of pure Cygnus Yellow along the bottom.

Here it is, all zoomed-out.

We’re getting close to the end now. It’s time to do all the leather. I give the boots, holsters, and various straps a coat of Umbral Umber. The pistol grip gets some Umbral Umber as well as a start to its wooden finish.

The Umbral Umber is highlighted with Bloodstone and shaded by mixing some Exile Blue in with it.

A final highlight is added by mixing Rucksack Tan in with the Bloodstone. A thin line of the same mix is painted along every leather ridge.

Finally, a mix of Umbral Umber and Exile Blue is carefully applied to every little crevice.

We’re on the final stretch now. Some thin lines of wood grain are added to the pistol grip with Rucksack Tan. Then the gloves and pouches are painted with Trollblood Highlight.

The wood grain on the pistol grip is further defined with thin lines of Menoth White Base. All the areas previously painted with Trollblood Highlight are washed with Agrax Earth.

The pouches are touched up with a careful reapplication of Trollblood Highlight. The same is done with the gloves, but they are blended up to a pure Morrow White. I also add a thin line of Morrow White to the collar.  Then I go back with Radiant Platinum and pick out all the numerous buttons and snaps that are all over this guy.

While I had the paints out I also went and finally finished up Sylyss – friend to not only Mercenary, but also Khadoran and Iosan Warcasters. He’s one more that I can’t believe I put off for as long as I did.

~ And here’s a final parting shot of the group. Hope you enjoyed the article! I’ll be back soon with either Boomhowlers or a Gobber Tinker. I haven’t decided yet…
