Tyranids: The Sky is (NOT) Falling
Like clockwork, the initial firsthand codex accounts break and well – you know the story – PANIC – MAYHEM – AAARGH!!!
I’m going to tell you a story about a codex that is about to come out. EVERYONE has been rumormongering about it for months and the army has been underperforming for most of it’s current codex lifespan.
Sure there are a build or two that work, and some die-hard purists still out there – but by and large everyone wants this codex to fix everything that is wrong with the current book.
Then on release week, the initial firsthand reports come out and EVERYONE IS FREAKING OUT!
The new units are overcosted, the Warlord traits are meh, the independent characters are lackluster in general, and some are still missing – the stuff that was boring is still boring – and overall the codex is a complete waste of time. The new models are cool, but people are still on the fence about whether they are worth it or not.
The dreadful codex I am talking about of course – was Tau Empire.
People, we have been through this before, and we will go through it again. It is part of the natural cycle of bringing a new codex into the community.
Without the FULL CODEX in your hand, and 2-3 weeks minimum of messing with combos, understanding the nuances, and testing out the subtle synergies – all mixed together with the altered point values – we are by definition getting an incomplete picture. It took several weeks if you remember before folks really started to figure out the effective combos in the Tau Codex.
