Welcome to the final installment of “This Week in 40K Podcasting,” Here is this week’s top 5!

Jaded Gamercast – Episode 200!!! ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the full cast is celebrating their historic 200th episode!  Teri, Ward, and Matty joined Nathan and Lange for this massive party that was kicked off with the ‘Weekly Listener Poll’.  They then took the opportunity to look back over the last 4 years of podcasting and how much fun it all has been.  They moved on to a trivia contest among the hosts in true, Jaded Gamercast fashion, with shots to keep score.  This included some great dating game-style fun, trivia, sci-fi knowledge, and so much more.

Opinion:  I would like to help the cast of Jaded Gamercast celebrate 200 episodes!  It is an enormous feat to have achieves, and well ofver 4 years worth of work.  Being a podcaster myself now, I truly understand what it took to get this far and admire their dedication!  This show had very little to do with 40K, but so what.  It was a fun show full of laughs, fun, and drinks!  Awesome body of work guys!  Thanks for all the good times!

Allies of Convenience – Episode 4 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the guys hit us with another monster 4+ hour podcast!  So strap in for a heck of a competitive 40K ride!  They kicked off the show with what they have been up to lately in gaming and the hobby.  They then moved on to answer some questions from their Facebook fans, which included some interesting rules debates and the best way to run and comp a tournament.  They then moved on to briefly look at the new Forgeworld Imperial Armour 13 releases.  Next, the guys talked to Thomas from the Danish ETC Team and they talked about his NOVA Open experience, how their Danish team has been chosen, what they are doing to prepare for that event, and much more!  Next, the guys talked to Nick Naventri, one of the most successful competitive players in the US having won NOVA, Adepticon, and many more big tournaments.  Next, Matt Robertson talked to Gene who is in charge of his local 40K League.  They discussed how the league is run and how matches are scored.  Then, they talked to Garth Donnelly, who recently participated in the Battle for Birmingham II!  He discussed the list he took to the event, some of his matches on that day, and recants his tales from this amazing event, in which he came out on top.  The guys closed out the show with a great ‘Round Table’ discussion about competitive 40K, Rankings, where to take the competitive community, and so much more.  This feature Reese from Frontline Gaming, Chip from Torrent of Fire, and Andrew Gonyo, Team USA ETC Captain!

Opinion:  Wow what an amazing show this week!  This was a competitive player’s ream podcast with 40K talk from all over the world.  The Nick Naventri interview was really quite awesome, but my favorite part of the show came at the end when the guys got together to discuss the health of the competitive community.  Reese, as usual, was quite fascinating to hear from and I really love some of the things they are doing with ranking.  Overall, really brilliant episode, keep them coming guys!

Preferred Enemies – Episode 87 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the guys are all nuts over the new Tyranid models GW is releasing or about to release!  They kicked off the show with some news, including the new Space Wolf iOS game, the new model range for the Tyrnaids, which included rules for the first time ever, for the Toxicrene, Malefactor.  They then look at the leaked photos and rules for the new Tyrannocyte, Sporocyst, Mucolid and Spore Clusters.  They move on to discuss this new release model from GW and the idea that they can release models without a new codex and how it can benefit the game and the health and well-being of the game.  Then, it was on to the main topic of the show, ‘Tournament Preparations”!  They discussed what one needs to know about traveling to a tournament and offered up some tips for how to get your army there and back again, in one piece.  They also discussed reading the tournament rules and catering your list to that particular event and what thing to you need to make sure you have with you.  They closed out the show with their hobby progress updates.

Opinion:  For those of you looking for the latest on those Tyranid models, this is the place to come!  The guys did an outstanding job covering the new model releases and what is right behind them.  I am also a huge fan of the ‘Tournament Preparations’ section of this week’s show.  It is always a good idea to have an idea what to do to make it in these big events.  Outstanding show guys!

Forge the Narrative – Episode 72

Highlights:  This week the guys continue to discuss the ‘Building a 40K Community’! They kicked off the show with a little about what they have been doing lately in gaming, including preparing for the 11th Company GT.  They also discussed some of the coolest character in the 40K universe of all time!  They then go on an off-shoot conversation about the new rumors surrounding the Blood angels and the new Tyranid drops.  Then it was on to the main topic, ‘Building a 40K Scene” and they focused on starting a campaign to help grow a community.  This then rolled on to a conversation about 3D Printing and the amount of effort one needs to put into this hobby to be a part of it.

Opinion:  This week’s show was a little scattered, even more then usually for this show, but all of the topics were quite interesting.  I do wish they had spent some more time on the 11th Company GT predations and what they were planning to take.  The gem in this one was the 3D printing conversation and their thoughts on this new technology.  Good show guys.
Life After the Cover Save – 123 ***Explicit***

Highlights: This week the guys kicked off the show with an interview with Chris Michaels from Powered Play!  Chris discussed what Powered Play is, how they got started, and some of the great products they have available in their latest Kickstarter and some ideas on how to use them!  They then moved on to what they have been doing in life and the hobby lately.  This included some Space Hulk and metallic spray paint reviews.  Next the boys are joined by Steve and they sort of learned a bit about him and his gaming history, and specifically how the LAtCS crew really reeled him into the 40K hobby.  They then discussed some of the things he has brought to their local gaming area such as the Kill Team campaign, the armies he plays, and so much more!  They also talked a bit off topic about Steve’s Dad who had a fairly decent acting career.  They talked a lot about his dad and all of the things he did during his life.  They closed out the show with some fun with movies!

Opinion:  Ok, so this week’s show was on the edge of 40K discussion.  The interview with Chris from Powered Play was really quite interesting.  And the conversation with Steve and his 40K experiences we fun as well.  There was some off topic stuff, its LAtCS, get used to it.  Love the show guys!
