3 Reasons Why YOU Should Play Scyrah
Rarkthor is back with some reasons he LOVES Warmachine’s Elf faction!
Hey Readers! Rarkthor is back again, and he is here to talk about some Warmachine! Warmachine is the newest game for me, but so far, it has been a blast! It is a welcome addition to my wargaming hobbies. The rules are tight, the games are fun, and I like the Retribution of Scyrah the most! For those who may be searching for their first Warmachine faction, or looking to start a new force, here are some reasons I recommend the Warmachine Elves!
1. Aesthetic
The first thing about the Retribution of Scyrah was the aesthetic. Unlike most of the Warmachine factions, Retribution moves away from the very boxy, steampunk style of Warjacks. They instead use contour lines, runes, and a more organic shape to create their jacks. The same is true of their units and solos. This was easily the most enticing part of the faction for me. I love the way the models look, and I really have enjoyed building and painting these guys up. I’ll admit that the faction really drew me in with its “elfiness” (since I haven’t really found a Dwarfy faction!)
2. The Faction Mechanics
When I was first researching Warmachine and Hordes, I knew right away that I was going to choose Warmachine. I have always preferred the Science Fiction genre, and Warmachine, as a game, appealed to that part of me. Now, upon further research, I found out about Scyrah’s very unique mechanic. All of the Jacks have an extra shield attached to them! Heavy Warjacks have larger shields, of course, but they can be restored using Focus! That’s so cool! Granted, it does mean that the Jacks have less mechanical durability, and the Shield Generators can be destroyed. That’s ok, because the shield allows for some very interesting tactics and maneuvers. If you enjoy Warjacks as much as I do, Scyrah is, in my opinion, the faction to be!
3. The New All-in-One Army Box
Wow! That’s fantastic! When I bought my Scyrah army, it was during a Winter Bundle Sale, which featured some different models. I’m not even mad though, for this box looks awesome. This box contains 35 points of Scyrah ready to rock and roll. To me, this is a great reason to get into Scyrah. Support for a faction is always important, and this just goes to show, Privateer Press has not forgotten about the Elves! It’s a great deal and a great way to start a new faction.
