Spartan Games is showing off a first set of pics of HALO spaceship minis for their upcoming tabletop game. GO GO GO!
Spartan Games’ partners at 343 Industries and the Halo Franchise Team have created an excellent article detailing the working relationship by which Spartan Games will be designing Halo miniature games. You can now read the article, written by 343 Industries writer Grimbrother One, in full.
Our first foray into Halo games will bring the fantastic spaceships from the Halo Universe to your tabletop. Let’s take a look at some models, starting with the Covenant.
It was hugely exciting to work hand in hand with our partners to design the ORS Heavy Cruiser. The length of this model approaches 15cm – in the real world that’s around 3km long! In the upcoming game it will be a formidable vessel for any UNSC Fleet Commander to face off.
Without doubt this is one of the most readily identified vessels in the Halo Universe. It was a pleasure to realise the Covenant CCS-class Battlecruiser, and in game this is an intimidating killing machine for Covenant players.
We have always liked this model, and even though it is one of the smaller Covenant vessels we knew we had to nail it. In game the SDV-class Corvette operates in pairs, or can be used to escort larger vessels, such as Heavy Cruisers and Assault Carriers.
Battling the irrepressible might of the Covenant are the brave souls of the United Nations Space Command, or UNSC as we all know them.
The designers could not have been more thrilled to have the chance to realise another model in the Halo Universe. The Epoch-class Heavy Carrier sits at the heart of UNSC fleets, acting as a lynchpin of any Commander’s battle strategy.
We love the Marathon-class Heavy Cruiser, and in game this medium sized UNSC vessel provides mobility and firepower during key moments of a battle.
Everyone has seen the stunning Paris-class Frigates in the Halo games. Though small in size on the tabletop, their role in the game is not small by any stretch of the imagination.
