Wrath of Kings: Teknes Starter Unboxing
Let’s look at another starter from Cool Mini or Not’s new Wrath of Kings. This time it’s the glorious humanum revolution of Teknes.
Like previous starters this one is filled nearly to bursting with little plastic bags – thirty of them have a model inside plus two more for cards and bases.
Might as well start off with these Union Workers. To get one of these creatures, a Tecnomancer basically gives a demon injection straight to the heart of a human subject. While some of these guys gave themselves over willingly under good faith that they’d be turned back to normal, a good number of these pig men are likely to be prisoners or criminals. All will serve mother Teknes.
There are six different sculpts and the box includes two of each for a total of twelve.
Most of them have the sword and shield combo.
And why not? It’s an effective pairing.
Then you’ve got guys like berserker pig here that just want to hit everything in reach.
Last up there’s this guy who’s packing some sort of experimental weaponry. All the union workers have the same stats regardless of equipment.
And here’s the guy who bosses them around: The Union Boss. Leaders are an important concept in Wrath, and all infantry types have one.
He seems even more gruesome from the back.
Personally I prefer this sculpt. I mean smokestacks are cool and all but I’ll take an angry little guy over one of those any day.
The Linemen are the other infantry that come in this set. Although it looks like we have a linewoman here.
I think the other sculpts are more interesting personally.
This guy has enough going on that I want to get a shot of the back too.
His buddy is pretty great too. Look at that expression. He’s like “yes I am wearing tights and no that won’t make you any less dead when I poke you with this sword I have here.”
The leader of the linemen is just another one in fancier armor.
The variant sculpt is quite similar with a beard, shoulder spike, and stone hammer being the distinguishing features.
And that brings us to one of the specialists in the Teknes box. The Galvanic Defender here gallops around on… whatever this thing is (some kind of kangaroo?) zapping whoever he can with a magic attack. It’s not strong, but he is manueverable so he can be hard to protect against.
Finally it’s the Zalaak. You can have multiple the Zalaak’s if you wish. Regardless of which the Zalaak it is, it will always be a little Adanni carried around by a large octopus. The Zalaak is not a terrible fighter, but really it’s point is to die at which point it will unleash a Psychic backlash that can fry nearby enemies. I had a lot of success with one of these in my first game fwiw.
~Hope you enjoyed the pictures. There will be more Wrath of Kings content to come.
