X-Wing: Build Me a List Worthy of Jabba
BoLS is back from GenCon 2015 with some new toys & AdamHarry takes them out for a test drive.
Hey BoLS Readers, AdamHarry back and this time I’m talking typing X-Wing! As you may have noticed from this week’s on-going coverage we just got back from GenCon 2015 and we had quite a haul! It’s been a combination of Christmas and crunch-time here at the BoLS HQ. It’s been awesome to take a look at all the video we’ve shot and products we scored. I can’t help but think “Wow, I can’t believe it!” and then the terror sets in. I have so much more to go through…
But that’s another article.
Right now, in-between motivational beatings to”work faster” I’ve been able to sneak off with some of the GenCon exclusives/pre-releases. In my possession I’ve got all of the Scum & Villiany wave 7 ships…and I plan to use them! I’m going to unleash them on my victims friends at our local X-Wing Night – which, if my calculations are correct, will have already happened when this post goes live. It’s almost like I want to test this stuff out before I make a judgement call… and build a Scum list that is worthy of Jabba the Hutt.
On with the list building! I’m definitely running the Hounds Tooth. I’m pretty comfortable flying a big ship and I really want to showcase it anyhow. I’m also going to run the new Kihraxz Fighter because it reminds me of a Klingon Bird of Prey looks cool. For points fill I’ll look at a M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor. It’s not wave 7 but I still like it and it’s Scumy…and I wrote about it before so I might be biased.
I’m very tempted to take the Hounds Tooth and load it up. I’m super curious as how Bossk interacts with the Mangler Cannon*. I see a lot of potential synergy there. I’m also eyeballing Calculation as well. There are also various Scum Only upgrades like the K4 droid or Outlaw Tech that I’m keeping in my back pocket, so to speak. Predator, Push it to the Limit and Engine Upgrade are also on my list of “Go-To” upgrades when you can take them. As I said – I’m very tempted to load Bossk up and swing for the fence but in my experience it’s never good to place up all your eggs in one basket. After all, this is the Star Wars universe and ‘Death Stars’ have a horrible track record.

The Kihraxz Fighter on the other hand I’m not really sure what do with. Maybe I’ll just load him up on Glitterstim and have him charge at you like a Nightmare inducing Coke-Fueled-Rage Clown. I call him Dr. Roxxo. Clowns make me cry laugh.

I’m not 100% sure how it will play out – but I’m okay with that. It’s not meant to win me the next qualifier or regional tourney. I’m bringing this one in for fun and to show-off the new ships. Also, I’m hoping to learn a thing or two so that I can make some informed decisions for my next list. It’s all about experimenting! I feel like a mad scientist and that’s not a bad thing…
*After playing this out I learned a few things. That article is about the Hounds Tooth but I also learned that Glitterstim is indeed AMAZING. Coupled with the right pilot it can really flip a turn for you. Or pair it with missiles for a devastating turn. But that’s another article…
