Infinity: August Releases Unboxed Part 1
Let’s take a close-up look at some of the newest Haqqislam & Combined releases for Infinity.
USAriadna is great and all but lets not forget about the games other eight factions. I think once you have a look at these guys you might decide to pick up Haqqislam too.
We’ve been seeing a lot of Light and Medium Infantry boxes lately, but Heavy Infantry… Not so much. I mean it’s not like its unprecedented. I have a box of Riot Grrls as it happens. But it’s not something you see that often. I’m hoping the trend will continue and we’ll get Swiss Guard in a set up like this. Supposedly Mobile Brigada can expect a similar box. But I digress…
All the heads come on this one sprue. The Doctor is in the middle and we have a more standard Janissary on the right.
Here’s the other side of that Sprue so you can see the Missile Launcher Janissary head.
And speaking of Missile Janissaries here she is. The female Janissay gets the Missile Launcher because she just wants to have fun.
The belt of rockets is a nice touch. How does everyone else reload their Missile Launchers.
This is a doctor Janissary. Not a Paramedic but an actual doctor. That’s an important distinction to begin with, but this is an Akbar Doctor on top of all that.
Can you guess what “Hekim” means in Arabic? I bet you get it on the first try.
The Doctor also gets that cool medic’s pouch on the left. The backpack goes with the third Janissary. His legs and torso are identical to the Doctor, so he needs the backpack to cover the word doctor plastered across his back. Also it looks cool.
The other Janissary gets this Boarding Shotgun. Once they’re glued on, the pose looks different enough that you’ll hardly notice the two models share a major component.
The fourth model in the set is this tinbot. He’s a cool looking little guy, but I don’t know if anyone actually uses these dudes. He’s just a cool looking counter that gets a model because hey – this is a miniatures game. Miniatures look cooler than counters. He can’t actually even be hurt.
He’s an upgrade for the Boarding Shotgun Janissary, that makes him more resistant to hacking. This is not a bad thing by any means, but he costs an extra half an SWC. I guess every once in awhile you might have one to spare? Or maybe your opponent will let you use him as a Nasmat.
These models are actually quite old, but are being re-released in a box that contains all three models. I had already bought the old ones for that Combined army I swear I’ll get around to painting one of these days.
When I first started getting into this game I remember thinking how sinister looking I thought these guys were. Sorry if that sounds weird but they just look like things that wants to spray you with some vile acid, or maybe sting you, or just generally infect you with something. Of course if you read the description you’ll see that they are unlikely to harm you. They just want to heal and fix things. So kill them fast or they’ll bring that Avatar back to life.
So yes, the detail is not as flashy as the Janissaries, but I still love the concept and I think they’re among the best of the older Infinity sculpts. I’m glad CB seems to have felt the same and decided to keep them around awhile longer. There are other things that are in more need of being resculpted.
Here’s the back.
And the side. The coiled tail bit slides in right in that gap in the middle.
He also gets these extra bits. Not sure how he’s going to perform surgery with those weird little mandibles but he does just fine with them.
No I didn’taccidentally re-post the same picture again. The Med-tech’s helper worms are little miniature versions of the big guy. They look quite similar.
The back is the most noticeably different part.
And finally the side.
~What do you guys think of this wave of new releases? Who actually uses the tinbot?
