Star Wars ARMADA: Imperial Raider – Latest Rules
Today a lot of info on the new Imperial Raider arrives. Come see the new swift and deadly anti-fighter capitol ship of the Imperial Navy.
Checkout the goodies from FFG:
First let’s check out the ship stats for both the Raider I and Raider II class:
The Raider is an escort, so you shouldn’t be looking fro any knockout stats on a tidy little ship that clocks in at 44-48 points. The big news here for Imperial players is a vessel that can move up to 4, allowing flanking maneuvers and outright chases that can catch those pesky Rebels by surprise. Then you get that very nice dual black, or black and blue dice anti-squadron rating on a ship this small. A couple of Raiders placed in between your big Imperials and the Rebel fleet will do quite a number on any fighters trying to get through your picket defenses.
You get the expected set of named ship upgrades to dress up your fleet a bit. The Instigator is a giant boat anchor that can lockdown enemy fighters at distance 1, keeping the heat off your fleet, and the Impetuous can pull off an extra attack each turn against fighter squadrons – allowing EVEN DOUBLE ATTACKS IN THE SAME ARC!
These pesky little ships can of course be dressed up to further make them a real menace to Rebel squadrons with cards like this:
Or you could go all Admiral Thrawn and try out some tricksy unorthodox tactics like using Expanded Hanger Bay to turn your lightning quick Raiders into Squadron:2 “Escort Carriers” that can really catch the rebels with thier pants down commanding nearby Imperial squadrons.
This ship is available in Q4 for $19.95
~You better bet the Imperials will be showing up on an ARMADA tabletops near you the moment it ships. Get ready Rebel scum!
