When an entire planet is covered in jungle, and that jungle wants to kill you, then you know you’ve come to a Death World. The Jungles of Nectavus is the latest and first War Pack announced for Warhammer 40,000 Conquest from FFG! Welcome to Nectavus VI where the only law of this jungle is survive…if you dare.
Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Jungles of Nectavus, the first War Pack in the Death World cycle forWarhammer 40,000: Conquest!
For much of the Imperium, a Death World is a place you will never see—and never want to see. On these planets, mere day-to-day existence is nearly impossible. Volatile and unpredictable seismic activity may cause earthquakes and new volcanoes on an hourly basis. The atmosphere may be toxic to humans, or lashing storms of iron shards may shred even an Imperial tank in minutes.
On Nectavus VI, the entire planet is covered by jungle, and everything in that jungle is trying to kill you. The trees and vines spray poisonous spikes at whatever comes near. The animals that dwell within the jungle can strike invisibly from the shadows or simply use their brute strength and unreasoning resilience to crush their foes. Nectavus VI is an unquestionable Death World, yet it is about to become the site of another massive battle for the Traxis sector…
The Word of the Invokator
Carnage is about to break forth on Nectavus VI, and the catalyst that starts this desperate battle is none other than Sathariel the Innvokator, a fallen Psyker led by the Ruinous Powers to tear open a gateway to the Immaterium. Even as he weaves the spell that will rend the skies above Nectavus, Sathariel also serves as an excellent introduction to the new mechanics and themes of this cycle.
Sathariel the Invokator can be deployed as a normal unit by paying five resources, but his red and white deployment cost means that you can take advantage of the new keyword introduced by theDeath World cycle—Deep Strike. Deep Strike represents your units, events, and attachments making their way to the battlefield by covert means, such as tunneling or teleportation. During the deploy phase, you may choose to pay one resource and play a Deep Strike card facedown at a planet as an action. Then, when a battle at that planet begins, you may choose to Deep Strike that card by paying its Deep Strike value. If you Deep Strike a unit, it joins your forces at the planet, while an attachment must be attached to an eligible unit at that planet and an event takes effect immediately.
Returning to Sathariel the Invokator, you’ll notice that he has a Deep Strike value of three—allowing you to Deep Strike him for only four total resources. Of course, Sathariel is more than just another body on the field of battle. After each combat round begins at Sathariel’s planet, you can return any Chaos Power event from your discard pile to your hand! Whether you want to recur a Warpstorm (Core Set, 93), Infernal Gateway (Core Set, 79), or Fetid Haze(The Scourge, 27), Sathariel will, at the very least, provide you with another shield card for the upcoming combat round.
