Circle: The Death Wolves 101
Are you into Cannibals? Then the Death Wolves are for you! Let’s take a detailed look at Circle’s latest:
Who Are They?
The Death Wolves is a new 3 model character unit (Skoll, Tala, Caleb) for the Circle Orboros Hordes faction. They are a melee oriented group that has cannibal tendencies. This is a first character unit for Circle and they are a great addition to any force.
What do the Death Wolves Do?
The Death Wolves have a decent statline. Above average MAT and 14 for both ARM and DEF. As most circle infantry they have pathfinder.
Cannibal Magic All 3 of the Death Wolves have this ability.They start the game with 1 corpse token. You can spend a corpse token to take 1 damage instead of the total rolled. So a POW 1000000 damage roll would only do 1 point if you spend a token.
Heart Eater: This should be a familiar ability if you have used any Tharn Ravagers recently. You gain corpse tokens for killing living enemies and can have up to 3. You can boost with the tokens.
Skoll:
Armed with a Reach POW13 axe he has a decent threat range.
Grants Overtake to the unit. With the combination of Heart Eater and Overtake, living enemy units have to stay wary of the Death Wolves or they could potentially be wiped out if spaced poorly.
Tala:
Armed with 2 POW11 swords and is +2 to hit charge attacks.
Grants Prowl to the unit. Circle has a bunch of ways to get stealth to Prowling units.
Caleb:
Caleb is armed with 2 POW9 claws that he can combo for POW12.
Grants Gang to the unit. This is where the nasty happens. This unit goes from decent to power house if they can double up melee on models. MAT9 and ranging from POW11 to 15.
Who Works Well with Cannibals?
Morvahana2 can polish the most tarnished brick. But, she can make this unit deadly accurate with rerolls and keep them stealthed with her Fog of War.
Krueger1 can give them all Reach. It might be a waste now that the bloodwitch is out but, Reach with lightning tendrils can make the unit all guarantee Gang bonus easier.
How Do We Kill These Guys?
They only get corpse tokens off living models so consider that when trying to match up against them. ARM14 is not great so gun mages, strikeforce or continuous effects can kill them off if they aren’t stacked up on tokens.
