Tabletop Spotlight: City of Iron
The Tabletop Spotlight is on: City of Iron – Steampunk Adventure awaits!
When Evan from Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over City of Iron I had no idea what to expect. Then he said, ” It’s a fantasy/steampunk choose-your-own-adventure deck building game.” I looked at him, blinked, and replied, “YES.”
City of Iron puts you in the role of a nation/city manager. You’re basically building two decks – one civilian and one military – while also building up your cities/areas. There is a neat interplay between managing your civilian city building (which costs you money) and using your military might to take over neutral towns (which can be taken away by other players). Managing resources, upgrades, civilians and military makes each game unique and different (that’s where the whole choose-your-own-adventure comes in).
On top of some really neat deck building and resource management this game has some downright amazing artwork. The visuals alone are worth the price of admission! The fact that the game play is just as engaging as the art is why you should check this one out. This game allows 2-4 players to duke it out to see who will become the winner after by Victory Points. So… how will you win? By Civil Actions, Military Might or a combination of both? Go play City of Iron to find out!

Far away in the beautiful world of Arzium, four small nations compete to become the most powerful, rallying courageous explorers, cunning leaders, brilliant minds, and powerful magicians. The humans of the City-State of Arc value industry and growth, while their neighbors in the highlands of Cresaria seek out ancient magics and scientific advances.
To the south live the toads of Om amid the verdant Emerald Hills, inventing amazing machines and gizmos to aid them. The Hog Republic to the west holds a rich military tradition and teaches ruthless strategy– in war and in business– to all citizens from a young age.
