40K Latest Codex is All About (digital) Chaos
GW is forming a pattern with their recent Warhammer 40,000 codex releases. Look at what this weekend brings:
This week say Black Library release this:
Codex: Chaos Daemons – Daemonic Incursion Edition $39.99
The Chaos Daemons are the most terrible and surreal of all Mankind’s foes. Gruesome warriors and fiends all, each of the entities that make up their ranks is a fragment of its patron god given form. They are as immortal as time itself and as powerful as the roiling emotions they embody. Though they can be temporarily banished back to the hell-realm of the Warp from whence they came, it is only at a great cost, and to earn the ire of a Daemon is to sign your own death warrant.
This new edition of Codex: Chaos Daemons combines all the fantastic content of the original book with the brand new rules content from War Zone Fenris: Curse of the Wulfen.
This digital codex contains:
– A full and rich background of the Chaos Daemons.
Advertisement– The truths behind the daemonic invasions of realspace.
– Rules for the vibrant armies of the Chaos Daemons.
– A glorious showcase of Citadel miniatures.
– A comprehensive army list that allows you to forge your Chaos Daemons into an all-conquering horde on the Warhammer 40,000 battlefield – including a host of formations and a new-style detachment
– Warlord Traits, Tactical Objectives and more

This edition is designed for iPad and iPhone and can be downloaded from iBooks.
And that continues the pattern. You will remember the previous, Space Wolves-Wulfen Edition, that updated codex Space Wolves with all the new Curse of the Wulfen units, but was never released in a physical copy. The new Deamonic Incursion codex is the same thing, updating the older Chaos Daemons Codex with the new units from Curse of the Wulfen. Again a product only available in digital format.
So it seems GW is indeed keeping the codexes updated regularly – if you don’t want paper copies. We saw softcover editions or Crimson Slaughter and Black Legion, but it has now been 6 months since Codex:Tau Empire was released after Halloween 2015.
~I wonder how long the no physical core codex drought will last. “Death of Codexes” indeed…
