BoLS Unboxing: Cryx Kraken & Sepulcher Combo Kit

Privateer Press has done it again with this Cryx Colossal! The have redone the entire kit in Plastic and it looks fantastic:
The move to plastic was a really good idea for these Colossal Kits. It makes pretty much everything better about these big kits. What do I mean by that? Well if you remember the previous kits (which were metal and resin for a lot of the Colossali? Colossals? Colossuses?) then you remember how careful you had to be after assembly. Most modelers have experienced that ONE catastrophic drop for a model or army. It’s never good. If you pinned your model – and you probably should have – then it was a little less fragile but the fear of breakage was still there. Well, when working with mixed materials, those drops can be much worse. You hope that it’s the glue that gives way and you can just clean the seam and re-assemble. But in realty, the resin and metal does funny stuff and can snap in really bad slots.
These new kits are also much, much lighter! Gone are the days of giant hunks of resin on a top-heavy model. Plus these new models are hollow, again saving on weight. If you do happen to drop this model, hopefully it will bounce and not shatter. If you used Plastic Glue there is a good chance it will be just fine depending on the drop.
The move to plastic had very little impact on the details. Im sure someone out there will complain that the hard edges aren’t as crisp – but I couldn’t tell a difference. I’m sure once you get this think assembled and painted you won’t be able to tell one way or the other.
Overall, It’s a really impressive kit! Privateer Press knocked it out of the park with this one. Keep in mind there are enough bits to make one model – so either the Kraken or Sepulcher. Theoretically, you’d could magnetize the bits to do a swap, but I’m not a pro with magnets. Also, this kit does contain the Mk II cards – I do go over them in the video, but we’ve seen those before so nothing much to say about those.
Kraken/Sepulcher
The Cryxian colossals rank among the most nightmarish necromechanikal fabrications ever loosed upon the Iron Kingdoms. Deployed only sparingly and in secret for centuries, these terrifying constructs are seen among Cryx armies with increasing frequency. The Kraken lashes out with long tentacles, feeding its necromantic furnace with the corpses of its victims to power its deadly hellblaster cannon. The Sepulcher snatches enemy soldiers and necromechanikally enhances them, producing an endless supply of thralls to be unleashed on the enemies of the Dragonfather.
SPECIAL NOTE: PIP 34117 contains the same stat cards as PIP 34050. The replaced PIP will no longer be available from Privateer Press beginning May 1, 2016.
