PP has been slowly trickling out the rules and we wanted to review some of the new changes and how this might effect 4 of the game’s factions.

Convergence

It is not suprising that CoC didn’t get to many big changes since they are the newest faction.  However, there are some big things.  Armor piercing is no longer base dependent.  All of a sudden Perforators are pretty scary.  Another crazy thing is that CoC can fuel huge lines of jacks if you can space properly.  I was talking with my local group on how crazy spamming diffusers could be in MKII. Now in the new edition this is ever crazier with shooting jacks.  Being able to literally spend 3 focus and have the next jack use the same 3 down the line makes shooting very accurate and letahl.  Infinity diffusers could be fueled by just 2 focus barring some misses.  The Corollary is also another amazing focus output device.

Retribution

Mage Hunter strike force took a big hit.  No longer ignoring everything and only ignoring some things with a 1 turn mini feat on the unit attachment.  However, not everything is sad.  Kaelyssa is still deadly and can have some insane high defense vs magic and shooting with blur.  Her gun now has dispel so armor buffs like arcane shield are even easier to counteract. Vyros’ feat makes some of Retibutions jack extremely hard hitting for a round with Flank.  A Manticore with combo strike could be putting out a power 22 combo strike with 4 dice damage.  Retribution will definetly be showing some more jacks now that they get some free focus.

Skorne

The Canonneer now has farstrike making it ranged 16″.  That is one far shooting elephant! Molik only has side step with Makeda now.  All in all that was a good change for a rather powerful piece in MKII.  I personally think he was best with epix Xerxis so there is now a fluffly reason and a game reason to keep him with Makeada.  Skorne is taking a hit with the Krea bubble.  Now only a defense bonus and no longer granting armor.  This is a big hit because you could literally walk into hail of fire with some of the Skorne builds and shrug off all but the heaviest of shooting.  This is definitely a change to how the faction may be working in the next edition.

Legion probably has some of the biggest changes rumored so far.  Shepherds are now only dropping a single fury.  So the Forsaken will probably be the new go to piece.  Sad time for Legion players as now enemy warnouns can hide behind forests.  Eyeless sight no longer ignores woods.  This is a big change since there was very few places a warnoun could hide from deadly Ravagores. Grottesques may see the field now.  They are extremely cheap point cost and quite fast.  If the Grotesque Assassin retains even some of his MKII rules they will be quite scary.  It looks like Bethayne got a little love and is now a troop supporting caster which is a nice move for a faction that in recent history did not use much of their infantry.
