Goatboy here again and welcome to another lovely 40k editorial all about the last remaining FAQs.

We have had a strange bit of fun with GW releasing weekly FAQs and the question right now is what will be next?  Let’s think about what is left right now – Orks, Chaos Space Marines, Chaos Daemons, Astra Militarium and the Tyranids.  Of those that are left the only one that could be “combo’d” up to be a dual release is Daemons and Chaos Space Marines – but I suspect some kind of newish book will come out for Marines so that really just leaves a Daemon release.

Codex Chaos Daemons

Chaos Daemons

Let’s start with Daemons then – as while the book as a whole doesn’t have too many questions it could use some Errata.  They might do something about the Tzeentch, reroll saves of 1 power if they wanted to balance things a bit.  Sure it isn’t nearly as powerful as most of those units are extremely susceptible to a stomp or two as well as having a really hard chance to hurt said stompers.  I also suspect the Corruption rule to get a bit of a talk through to help answer any questions.  I don’t suspect it will change how it works – just a way to answer and validate some people’s questions.  We have seen some goofy questions in these FAQs so I am sure there will be one or two.  I bet the Masque might get some errata or added on rules to help make some extra movement some armies get not work as well.  I also bet on a complete answer to how the Tetrads split of the Warlord Trait actually works and how to get it to work with multiples on the table.  I don’t suspect a stacking mechanism and just think it will be played like ITC does it.  I would hope we would see some errata on some of the Daemons extra rules to help make it actually work in 7th edition – the +3 to leadership checks for Tzeentch daemons and maybe a tweak to how Fiends actually work.  Still there won’t be a new book as GW seems to like the random nature of the Daemon book.  It is still my favorite army to play and I hope we don’t see anything to mess up my current go to army.

Codex chaos space marines

Chaos Space Marines

If we do see a Chaos Space Marine FAQ then just know we will have to wait at least another year to get a new book.  It just means we will be stuck with only seeing KDK friends as well as the Cabal in most “Chaos Space Marine” armies.  I can’t think of much to ask or have updates to with the Chaos Space Marines other then just making them better.  Maybe if the FAQ was a big pile of Errata with new point costs, items, and well – just a free kick a$$ CSM book.  But heck I could go on and on what I would do and how I would do it.  At the very least I would just do a similar book to the Space Marines and then even come out with a Devils of Death book later on with more spells and infernal nonsense.  Still – we see a FAQ we know a new book won’t be coming out.

Codex orks

Orks

Orks could use some simple Errata to help them out.  I think a quick fix to the Ghazghul book that would either give back the old Force Org Detachment or at least let you have the option for a CAD using their rules.  I am thinking it might be worth it to put up a vote in ITC to allow regular Ork CAD armies access to Ghaz stuff.  Heck the Orks needed it but I do think will see a quickie FW thing removing the cheap Big Mek Stompa.  I haven’t been too impressed with it as while it is pretty dang awesome, 2 Renegade Knights can do a lot to shore up a lot of Ork weaknesses.  FAQ wise I could see this shoved into the Nid release as a – oh crap we have some Xenos to finish up type of post.

Tyranids

Speaking of Nids – I was hoping we would see a new book come out.  I think some simple tweaks could help and even the rumored and shot down little piece we saw last year could have been awesome.  Again the weakness to the D and the G is a huge issue for Nids.  I think if more massed flyer armies start to come around and people use the new flyer rules – Hive Tyrants can rule the sky once again.  It is still sad to not see some of the old Nid action we all know and love – massed gribblies followed by a ton of big monsters and some leader guys whipping them into a flurry of teeth and claws.  Maybe will get lucky and have some quick Errata that gives back Biomancy and Telepathy?  Maybe will see some complete point shifts and other changes to help make the book workable.

Astra Militarum

The last one would be the Astra Militarium book.  I think with the release of their Cadian formations we probably will never see a new “leaf blower” style of army again.  They have 2 decent formations with one coming into its own as a “daemon” summoning power house.  If you haven’t played against the Psykana Division yet – just know it is coming.  Most likely mixed with Knights or FW based IG (Thudd guns and other artillery) – it will be showing up on the table tops.  Not having to care that much about perils, casting on a 2+, and having access to decent primarius powers makes this a rough thing to fight against.  You have to worry about the Keep One Eye Open rule but that just means you can easily sacrifice those pesky Daemonettes to the great cause of stopping the Death Star from coming into your lines.  There isn’t much to really FAQ as the book as a whole works – just not that well.  Beyond some Errata to make stuff better the AM army really just needs an overhaul to let it catch up with some of the better books out there.

Everyone Else

I really hope we see the continuation of the Curse of the Wulfen as I feel it could help a lot of armies.  The removal of the Battle Brothers starting in transports has hurt a lot of armies but still left some kicking.  In fact it just forced some armies either hyper focus in one faction (Iron Hand Stars – they are coming) or just force a specific build to always be a set combo (Dark Angels plus wolves – the peanut butter and jelly of DB/DS scene).  I really want the rumored new edition to go back to a phase of one faction vs one faction instead of this heavy combo atmosphere.  I don’t mind formations and ways to get specific units in armies (renegade Knights and friends – daemons and CSM etc) but sometimes the combo nature is just too much.

~What do you want them to FAQ/Errata in the left over books?  Do you think the big FAQ is ready to be official?  Are these changes going to show up in the new edition or are we going to have a complete change/update?  How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?   Does these jeans make me look phat?
