Space Marine Heroes $50
Among the greatest heroes of the Imperium, Terminator Captains have proven themselves again and again in the heat of battle. Chaplains, the spiritual leaders of the Chapter, preserve and perform ancient rituals, making them indispensable members of any squad. The mightiest of these Captains are sometimes rewarded with the privilege of donning Cataphractii armour – sometimes dating back to the Great Crusade, the honour of wearing these pieces spurs Captains on to even greater feats in the name of the Emperor.
This box set contains the parts necessary to assemble a Terminator Captain in Cataphractii Armour and a Chaplain , adding a touch of Horus Heresy-era class to your Space Marines army! Includes a transfer sheet, a Citadel 32mm Round base and a Citadel 40mm Round base.
Cataphractii Terminators $65
A heavier variant of the Tactical Dreadnought Armour, Cataphractii armour is a relic from the Great Crusade, able to weather almost any form of attack. The price for this resilience is a lack of mobility; and it is for this reason that many Chapters eventually replaced it. Even so, many examples of this ancient armour reside in the armouries of the Adeptus Astartes, ready to be called upon in times of need.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble five Cataphractii Terminators, with a huge array of weapon options; combi bolters, power fists, lightning claws, heavy flamers and chain fists are available. Supplied with a transfer sheet and five Citadel 40mm Round bases.
Mark IV Space Marines $50
Designed by the Adeptus Mechanicus to replace the worn-down power armour used during the Great Crusade, Mark IV power armour is ancient and powerful. The most common pre-Heresy armour still in wide use, with even a few Chapters still producing new suits, it is a testament to the ingenuity and longevity of the Space Marines.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a ten-man Space Marines Tactical Squad in Mark IV power armour, with an impressive selection of armaments including bolters, missile launcher, heavy bolter, chainswords, power swords, power fists, plasma pistols, lightning claw blades, combi flamer, melta and plasma guns, a melta bomb and a set of combat blades! These miniatures also include ammo packs, holstered bolt pistols and a selection of frag and krak grenades. Supplied with ten Citadel 32mm Round bases and a transfer sheet.
Contemptor Dreadnought $60
A huge walker, towering over its Space Marine brethren, the Contemptor Dreadnought is a true engine of destruction. Sadly, the secrets of creating new Contemptors are thought lost forever – the ancient machineries of the Adeptus Mechanicus that lurk beneath their heavily-armoured hulls are little understood, but highly respected. Unbelievably strong, incredibly well protected and wielding weaponry of impressive power, the Contemptor Dreadnought is somehow an even more frightening proposition to face in combat than its more modern brethren.
This multi-part plastic kit contains all the components necessary to assemble a Contemptor Dreadnought, armed with a choice of multi-melta or assault cannon. Includes a transfer sheet and Citadel 60mm Round base.
Contemptor Dreadnought Squad $180
I’m really glad we’re getting these individual kits just because it opens up a world of possibilities were we might see more Pre-Heresy Plastics. That idea is exciting. But I’m not blind and I can do math. I would have liked to see the Contemptor with different options and more poses. Sure, you can cut the legs and maybe the knee joints to make it more posable…But for $60 I don’t think I should have to “recreate the wheel” in this case. Another sprue with a weapon option like a Lascannon, second close-combat arm, and maybe some extra bits would have been a nice compromise.
These release also shows just how much of a crazy deal Betrayal at Calth really is – if you’re wanting to get started with a Pre-Heresy Army, start there first.
Betrayal at Calth Breakdown:
3 sets of the Mark IV Marines = $150
1 set of the Cataphractii Termintors = $65
1 pair of the Space Marine Heroes = $50
1 Contemptor Dreadnought = $60
Not to mention all the other stuff in the box…
MSRP = $325
Savings = $175
Now if you really just want that lone Contemptor or if you just want a single set of 10 Marines, yes you will spend less money by buying a single box. But if find yourself looking at 2 or more boxes, do yourself a favor and ask yourself if the Betrayal at Calth box might be a better option.
Those new black boxes are pretty sweet looking though…
~Have at it folks!
