Looking for an intro adventure that’s a little different than your typical “go to the dungeon” routine?  Check out the Gallows of Madness!

All great adventures have to start somewhere, but they don’t all start out the same. Some of them start with a few first steps into the wilderness. Some of them begin with an epic encounter that sets the stage. And some of them start with a simple bar fight that leads to something more. The Gallows of Madness is the perfect way to start a new adventure or spice up your current one:

The Gallows of Madness is designed for character from level 1-2. You can run the entire adventure as three linked campaigns or as three different single shots. I, personally, think it would be awesome to drop these three adventures into an existing campaign as “side-quests” that could turn into more. There are lots of maps and locations you can use, too. The township of Saringallow is fairly well laid out and you can totally use that as a “base of operations” for your adventuring party – that’s perfect for new players and GMs alike!

If you’ve never used on of these Adventure books before, they are great tools for the GM to use to run an adventure. If you’re not a super creative type or maybe a new GM who doesn’t know where to start, then these are wonderful additions to your collection. Because the adventures are fully fleshed out, you can run the straight from the book. But don’t be afraid to add your own dramatic flare to them. For more experienced GMs these are great “one-shots” that can give you a break while you work on a more intense campaign or story. Because the book is also packed full of NPCs, locations, and story hooks the GM can weave these into just about any adventuring troupe’s story. I love the pick-up-and-play style of these adventures.

While this book (and most of this article) are gear mostly for GM’s I could see players using this to create a rich backstory for their characters. You could also base your character off of the NPCs within the book or maybe your character actually completed some of these quests before your started your adventuring proper. That can add some weight to your character and help fill them out immensely.

I haven’t even gotten into the cool locations and types of adventures presented in the books (we cover some of that in the video). Overall, these three adventures are fantastic for new characters to work through. And don’t forget, as the GM you are free to “scale” these adventures to meet your party’s experience. That creepy mansion might actually BE haunted by something a lot worse than some pesky poltergeist after all…Gallows of Madness is in stores now so go check it out!

Pathfinder Adventure: Gallows of Madness

The Abyss Approaches!

Something wicked—and monstrous—stirs around the rugged Isgeri town of Saringallow, where the hated legacy of noble Chelish diabolists runs deep. With the recent disappearance of several apprentices, the nearby menace of particularly grotesque goblins, and the unsettling rumors about the old Sarini Estate, Mayor Sandra Trinelli knows that she needs help, and she needs it fast! The heroes must confront one of these crises, or all three, if they hope to stem the tide of darkness that looms. Before too long, the heroes discover that villains with ties to the Abyss have set their sights on Saringallow, and won’t rest until the settlement and all its innocent inhabitants fall victim to their madness-inducing predations!

Gallows of Madness is a 64-page, highly versatile collection of three adventures for 1st-level characters. Each adventure also includes scaling information for parties of 2nd-level characters. Written with beginning Game Masters and players in mind while also providing challenging content for veterans, these adventures can be prepared quickly and run separately or in any order. For GMs who wish to run a deeper, more narrative game, this volume also offers an overarching timeline of events and detailed tips for running these adventures as a cohesive whole. Bonus content includes new monstrous foes and a gallery of NPCs to help easily connect the adventures, plus a gorgeous double-sided poster featuring an overview of Saringallow and a miniatures-scale battlemap!
