You can clearly see the new plastic Custodian Guard with his very ornate armor and Guardian Spear. On top of that we’ve also got the new plastic MK III Power Armor as well. Now we’ve already seen the confirmation from Games Workshop and we know these models are going to be available for Pre-Order October 22nd.
But looking closer it also reveals a little bit more of the Custodians. We know from the lore that they only answer to the Emperor or their own leadership. They also appear larger than a standard Space Marine. At first glance I thought that perhaps this model was just in a fancier version of Terminator Armor. However, looking at the bare plastic it’s easier to make-out some of those features – and it does not appear to be that “heavy” looking. Keep in mind that if these Custodian Guards are from the Horus Heresy Era, the Imperium has Cataphractii Pattern and (also in the set) Tartaros Pattern Armor:
Tartaros Pattern Terminator Armor
Now looking at all these sets of armor next to each other, it’s easier to see that the Custodians are definitely in their own type of Ornate Power Armor – it’s not bulky enough to be Terminator Armor. Aside from that, it’s still some of the more intricate armor. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little impressed with the quality of the plastic molding.
Here at BoLS we’ve been looking forward to seeing the Adeptus Custodes hit the table top for a long time. Heck, we even had models for them converted all the way back in the early days for our Pre-Heresy Campaign days:
We’ve come a LONG way folks! Many folks are excited about getting a new Daemon Primarch, Sisters of Silence and other cool goodies from these new Games Workshop releases – We know exactly how you feel because we were just as excited to see the Custodes!
