GW: New Releases Oct 1 “First Looks”
Oh thank goodness it’s NOT cloth! Check out what else Games Workshop has this weekend!
First off – tons of new Genestealer Cult releases this week. I’m glad to see a second wave and I’m hoping for a third!
Secondly, when we first saw the City Ruin Battle Mat, I was puzzled as to why they would use an iron on it. Surely it had to be cloth, right? Turns out the Battle Mat is made of neoprene! Which is awesome…but after spending 20 seconds looking at the Google Results for “Neoprene Care” it seems like a bad idea to iron the material.
The reason being is that most good neoprene care advice is that you keep it away from high heat and out of direct sunlight. Sure, most of that applies to people who may be SCUBA diving or boating with neoprene products but keep in mind neoprene is a synthetic fiber. It’s technically a synthetic rubber material. And while most neoprene garments (SCUBA gear or otherwise) are usually good up to 120° F, I would still avoid using an iron directly on it to apply that direct heat.
If you MUST iron it to get out a crease use a damp tea towel in between the iron and the mat. Or you could ignore my advice and possibly melt or ruin your battle mat. I mean it says, “durable enough to be ironed” and they have pictures of ironing the mat, so it must be fine! Sure…It’s fine. It’s your money, you do what you want.
Now, on with the PRODUCTS!
