There is a new terrain kit that is suitably dark and grim headed our way.  You just knew the Imperium had to find some industrial use for blood didn’t you? Take a look at the latest high quality images and details on the Haemotrope Reactors:

GW says:

“Those of you who have already received your subscription copy of this month’s White Dwarf will have noticed this new piece of Imperial tech. For the rest of you, here’s your first good look at the Haemotrope Reactor, a machine that literally runs on the blood of heroes (plus a bit of prometheum).

This new kit will be available to order in just a few weeks time.
For the moment, check out the rest of our Warhammer 40,000 scenery range, including the Promethium Relay Pipes which link perfectly to this new arcane contraption. ”

There are no exact release dates on these other than they appeared in the imminent November White Dwarf.  I am more excited about the potential for the hero base kits as they are more generically useful. I can see hobbyists using these for all manner of things, from 30K Forgeworld Generals to Silver Tower Heroes.  A nice set of eldritch stairs or a blasted turret can always make your favorite model a little more imposing.

It has taken GW a while to enter the custom basing genre, and many aftermarket companies have been there for years. Nottingham is certainly jumping in with both feet – and the ultimate winner will be the consumer.

~ Look for more coverage of these in the days ahead.  What other body parts do you think the Mechanicus uses on an industrial scale?
