If you’re thinking, “Hey, didn’t BoLS just do one of these?” The answer is yes – but this is the NEW one. You see the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game has multiple sets that basically comprise a new story arc. This is the current one that our friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over:
If you caught our previous article on the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game then this one should be very familiar. It’s a lot more of the same! This new Core Set adds new character classes, gear, magic treasures, allies and of course monsters and locations to battle and explore. The cool part is that this adventure transports you to the “Half-Dead City” where the undead “rest” in their tombs. Will you brave the new locations in search of adventure? Of course you will – because you can’t become a famous adventure resting at home!
As we mentioned before the game play follows a fairly typical path. You’re adventures and you’re clearing these locations of any threats as well as phat loots. It’s a turn based system and your characters can also level-up and gain new abilities and bonuses. Ideally you would use the same adventurer the entire campaign from start to finish. The Base Sets are also large enough that they can contain all the planned expansion for that particular set. Once you’ve got the whole set, you can play straight through each adventure and learn the whole story.
I’ve gotten a couple rounds under my belt and I will say that some of the challenges were a lot closer than I thought they’d be. It’s surprisingly more tactical that I thought it would be at first glance. Mummy’s Mask is in stores now and a whole bunch of adventures are already on the way – so grab this set and get ready to have an adventure!
