Trollbloods: Northkin Shaman Brings the Winter
Trolls have a new solo on the shelves. Check out what makes this shaman menacing.
What Is It?
This is a new solo for Hordes: Trollbloods. The Northkin shaman costs 4 points and has a field allowance:2. He is mainly a support piece in an already crowded stable of trollblood support models.
What Does It Do?
The Northkin Shaman has your standard trolly stats of MAT:6 DEF:12 and ARM:15 with 5 boxes.
The Northkin Shaman is swinging a POW10 magic axe with .5″ melee range and is only SPD5 so don’t expect the long threat ranges from this guy.
He is loaded with some special rules:
Immunity to Cold: Good for some anti khador tech.
Pathfinder: Nice for a solo.
Tough: Wouldn’t be a troll without it.
BattleWizard: Useful, but risky with only MAT6 POW10. Might be better off casting without the swinging.
The Northkin Shaman is not going to be hitting a lot with Magic Ability:6. Luckily for him he only has 1 offensive spell.
Cold Snap: Enemies get -2DEF while within 2″ of this guy. Good to help clear high defense jamming units or jacks.
Freak Storm: Ya FREAKY! He gets to place a 3″ AOE cloud and then place 5″ away. If you have 2 of them you can kind of make a cloud wall for your beasts/warlock to hide behind.
FrostBite: Spray8 POW12. Nothing special but, good for clearing some lower defense and lower armor models.
List Idea for Northkin Shaman
Some of the troll warlocks want nothing to do with any enemy shooting no matter the power. Doomshaper only clocks in at DEF13 and Calandra is not much better and the shamans can block line of sight with clouds.
This list hides its big hitters behind clouds keeping everyone safe.

Revenant’s Opinion
The shamans are good for putting out a mini cloudwall in tandem. I wouldn’t see the point of taking just one so it really is an 8 point package. Considering trenchers get 6 clouds for 10 points at a price for their safety it might not be worth the investment.
