40K: The Thousand Sons Officially Unveiled
Games Workshop confirms the new Thousand Sons models – here come the Rubric Marines!
This is pretty big news for all you chaos players out there – yesterday we saw pictures break for the Thousand Sons and this morning Games Workshop made it official. The Thousand Sons are heading to a tabletop near you:
First up, the Rubric Marines. These formidable warriors form the backbone of the Legion. In combat, each fights with the deadly skill of any Chaos Space Marine, but inside their armour, all is dust. They were reduced to ash by the Rubric of Ahriman, a spell cast with the intent of saving the Legion from mutation, which instead doomed it to an eternity of half-existence.
Gamers amongst you will notice some new weapons on there too: flamers and heavy weapons alongside the better known bolters. I know what you’re thinking, do they have awesome new rules? They totally do.
Woah! new Terminators? Rubric Marines we were perhaps expecting, but this is a welcome surprise. The Scarab Occult are the Legion elite, clad in armour with hints of the Tartarus pattern armour of ages past (like in the Burning of Prospero box! See what we did there?)

And these guys! Tzaangors, who we’ve previously seen prowling the Silver Towers of the Mortal Realms, make their Warhammer 40,000 debut. Thousand Sons are an elite force, so the option to have a horde of… more expendable warriors to soak up a bit of enemy fire will, we’re sure, be welcomed by Tzeentchian generals.
And of course, the Sorcerers themselves: each more powerful than any weak-blooded Librarian of the Space Marines Chapters, steeped in 10,000 years of arcane lore and blessed by the master of Fate himself.
Well that should put to rest any doubts! Now I’m wondering when will these new models hit the shelves along with War Zone: Fenris Pt II: Wrath of Magnus. It’s going to be a good December for Chaos. All of these models look fantastic and I know I’m not the only one who’s super curious about their rules…
UPDATE: Ahriman Model added
Ahriman has been one of Warhammer 40,000’s most notorious villains for decades, and now he has a brand new model.

The most obvious change is the disk. Which we feel is fitting – it’s about time the most powerful mortal sorcerer in the galaxy didn’t have to walk.
Of course, this isn’t the fist new Ahriman we’ve seen this month. In the Burning of Prospero box, we saw a young, optimistic pre-Rubric Ahriman, battling to save his world from the vicious Space Wolves. We love how you can see the design elements on that model, exaggerated on the Ahriman model of the 41st Millennium.

Ahriman, along with the rest of the Thousand Sons, will be available to pre-order next weekend.
