All New ‘No Thank You, Evil!’ Expansions
Hurry! The KS ends this Friday – don’t miss out on new stories, places, and characters you can add to your adventures!
No Thank You, Evil! is a story telling game from MonteCook that’s perfect for family game night. Players start with a character card and a predicament from the game guide. From there they can let their imaginations run wild while solving problems, completing tasks, and interacting with colorful characters. It’s the perfect way to introduce kiddos to RPGs, and provides all of the positives that come from playing social games – including language development and communication skills.
If you’re not familiar with the game, Adam Harry took a look at the core set a few weeks back – you can see his full review of the core set here.
The Kickstarter includes two new expansions including Story Please! – it’s a set of all new cards to help players build all kinds of fun and exciting adventures.
- 20 Story Cards – offer several different ways for guides to start their games
- 20 Place Cards – also offer different options for guides to use that can be as specific or wide as the players need
- 20 Person Cards – have a back story and stats for characters
- 10 Map Cards – have art on both sides and can be used as tiles to create a game map
- 10 Handout Cards – these can be found during an adventure; they include invitations and requests
- 10 Twist Cards – these help develop the plot of your story; everything from locked doors to angry dinosaurs
- 10 Stuff Cards – objects you can use including singing plants, mystery potions, and coins
The cards are laid out like the ones in the core set – with a unique piece of art on one side, and descriptions and stats on the other.
What really struck me as I was going through the deck is the art used – the cards include a variety of styles that will help players get started, but doesn’t entrench them in one particular universe. That extends to names and descriptions. The game lacks a specific genre that encourages wider interpretations.
No Thank You, Evil! is a great way to get kids into social games – it lets them explore and create. I highly recommend picking up the core set and…
