Cygnar: Captain Victoria Haley & Friends
One of Cygnar’s classic casters has a fresh new face. Check out Haley’s new figure and how to use her.
With Haley 1s new figure lets see what kind of crazy list build we can do with the classic Cygnar caster.
Haley is probably best know for her Temporal Barrier spell. It was pretty back breaking in MKII when it prevented charges. It is not as crazy strong as it once was but, it still can help slow the enemy down.
My favorite part of Haley 1 is by far her feat. Blitz can make games crazy 1 sided if you get the alpha. Cygnar also is great at doing alpha damage with some crazy ranged threats.
Works With Haley
Lets look at some models that work well with Haley 1.
-Arcane Tempest Rifleman
This guy is pretty swallow-able for you opponent at 4 points. He is annoying but, some stray blast damage will usually seem him off. The ATR special shots are really strong but, the go to is the DeathBolt. 3 damage to the dome with no tough rolls. Combine 2 ATRs in range of a jack during Haley 1’s Blitz and you can put 12 damage in the column you PICK!!!! That pretty much knocks out almost all heavies systems/Spirit etc.
-Arcane Tempest Gunmage Cpt.
The premeire ranged solo for Cygnar these days is even deadlier during Haley 1’s feat. Is the caster stealth-ed and hiding behind a colossal. No problem. Use shadowfire on the first shot against the colossal to allow an army to see through it. Use the feat shot to flare the caster. With deadeye or a defense knock from Temporal Barrier there is a good chance he will hit even higher defense casters.
-Hurricane and Firefly
While the Hurricane is not yet on shelves it will be Haley’s go to colossal. The Hurricane’s gun with the Firefly 5″ electric damage buff are POW18. With Blitz giving it a 3rd shot you can easily take out most heavies.
-StormLances
Need to clear out a host of Cryx? Consider some Stormlances with Haley. While charging and under feat the Stormlances can clear an insane amount of models.
5 Stormlances under blitz can assault into a host of models.
Lets count:
5 initial assault shots
5 possible electro leaps
5 charge attacks
5 possible electro leaps
5 blitz melee attacks
5 possible electro leaps
That is 30 hits if you roll godly. This is also not including impact attacks so the in the dream world stormlances could kill 30+ models during blitz.
Final Thought
Haley 1 is not as popular as some of her epic versions these days but she is still a great caster. I personally like her for her Arcane Vortex because I have an aversion to Stranglehold. Show us where Wurmwood touched you?
While she doesn’t nerf your opponents army as badly as she used to with Temporal Barrier you can still make your opponent get shot in the face. The hard part is asking them for a 2nd game after the beating 🙂
