Tabletop Spotlight: AoS Battleforces
The Tabletop Spotlight is on the new Age of Sigmar Battleforces!
Games Workshop has launched some new Battleforces for Age of Sigmar and they are going fast. Luckily our friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy stop by with a few of them to show off what exactly you’re getting:
Now, we only opened up the Sylvaneth Battleforce box because we’ve seen GW repeat this pattern before with the 40k Battleforces. We picked the Sylvaneth because…well, I wanted to look at those particular models! I didn’t get to see the Kurnoth Hunter sprues and I wanted to. But that was just the example box we opened.
Each of these Battleforces are a repackaging of the indivual kits into a mega-bundle. These are fantastic deals for the price – we’ve done the break downs HERE if you want to see for yourself. They each contain a special formation which you can also use as part of these bundle/army deals.
Again, you aren’t missing out any bits or sprues if you buy this bundle vs the actual boxes – you’re just saving yourself money! That seems like a no-brainer in my book. If you’re a parent or loved one of someone interested in AoS and they have expressed interest in one of these boxes you may want to act quick because they are limited release according to GW. We don’t have any confirmation when they are going to pull the plug on these deals (we are assuming after the holiday).
If it were up to me, I’d expand all these Battleforces to every army produced for 40k and AoS. For the price of 3 new video games at $60 retail, you’ve got an entire, playable army. If you couple that with a Start Collecting Box and the General’s Handbook you’re giving them a fantastic starting-to-veteran sized army. There’s not much else to say – you’re getting some fantastic miniatures at a great price. What more do you want?
Battleforce: Sylvaneth Darkroot Wargrove $170
The air sings with glorious life magic as the children of Alarielle surge into battle. The reborn goddess of war leads from the front as Wyldwoods burst forth from the heaving ground, called into being by ancient spirits. Determined to protect the Realm of Life, mighty Wargroves advance, crushing enemies with the inexorable strength of nature. Outcasts and Free Spirits strike suddenly and without warning, slaughtering the foe mercilessly to cleanse the tainted land. The sylvaneth’s rebirth will be remembered as a harbinger of absolute vengeance
Battleforce: Ironjawz Thunderfist $170
Huge, hulking brutes, much taller and broader than a man, the Ironjawz rumble across the mortal realms in search of a good scrap. To them, nothing is so pleasing as the sound of battle – blades on metal, screams of the dying, the clamour and rattle of absolute violence is music to their ears. The most fightsome of all orruks, the Ironjawz are rightly feared all across the realms as their numbers swell and their Waaagh! grows ever larger.
Battleforce: Stormcast Eternals Sigmar’s Vengeance $170
A vision of golden celestial light, a living embodiment of the God-King’s might, the Stormcast Eternals are messengers of vengeance armed with the might of stars. Once-mortal champions of Order forged by Sigmar into an astonishing fighting force, hurled down from the heavens to meet the forces of Chaos head-on, they wreak bloody revenge on the Dark Gods, the corruptors of the realms.

Battleforce: Khorne Bloodbound Slaughterstorm $170
The murderous champions of the Chaos Gods fight furiously to extinguish the last lights of hope, and none fight harder or command more fear than the savage hordes of Khorne’s Bloodbound. Daubed with the Blood God’s rune, muscular beyond belief and foaming with rage, these warriors descend upon their enemies screaming and leave nothing alive. Since the Age of Chaos began, the Bloodbound have plagued every realm, rarely knowing defeat and unstoppably rolling over all in their path.
