Munchkin Cthulhu: Guest Artist Edition
Losing your mind has never been so cute!
Munchkins have hacked their way through dungeons, kung fu temples, starships, haunted houses, and super-foes. Now they face their greatest challenge – Cthulhu! Will they survive? Will they retain their sanity? Will they…level up?
Munchkin Cthulhu is a standalone game in the Munchkin universe, this time lampooning Lovecraft’s Mythos and the horror gaming that surrounds it. This base game features four new Classes, including the Cultist, and a lot of classic monsters from outside reality – and they all have Stuff you can take from their twitching bodies. You can play Munchkin Cthulhu by itself, or combine it with any number of other Munchkin titles for mind-bending silliness.

Gameplay:
Players take on the roles of adventurers with the goal of becoming a level 10 legend. They level up by selling loot, taking down monsters, and using special cards. The cards are separated into two piles: one for the door deck, one for the treasure deck. Each player chooses 2 standees of the same color and places one on board. Each turn game starts with a card being draw from the door deck, followed by combat – if it’s a monster, it has to be dealt with – looting the room players are in, and charity in which players have to discard extra cards. Each turn moves players across the gameboard, and the cards guide the game. The first to level 10 wins.
The game has all the horrible puns and humor we’ve come to expect – and is a major part of why Munchkin is so beloved. You can fight monsters with bagpipes, be forced to remove your shoes, and tangle with the horrible Arkhamster. If you enjoy any of the other titles in the series, or you want a goofy dungeon crawl, picking this one up is a no brainer.
The new art from Katie Cook is adorable, and makes the game even more fun.
Katie Cook, illustrator of Munchkin Love Shark Baby, as well as creator of Gronk: A Monster’s Story, brings her own patented form of adorable to Munchkin Cthulhu! [She] has worked with Marvel, DC, Lord of the Rings, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and many others. Cook has previously illustrated Munchkin Love Shark Baby, and Munchkin Kittens.
