The Spirit of Rebellion expansion is coming to Star Wars: Destiny – come take a look at the Yellow Heroes heading your way!

In Star Wars: Destiny there are 3 different colors for the Character Cards: Red, Blue and Yellow. These determine what upgrade cards are available when constructing your deck because you can only include matching colors or grey (neutral) upgrades. Fantasy Flight Games has a preview available for the Yellow Cards in the upcoming expansion Spirit of Rebellion – so lets take a look!

The Characters

There are three Yellow Character Cards in this preview – Maz Kanata, Chewbacca, and Jyn Erso (who we’ve seen previously):

Maz is a pretty great all around card. Her ability to activate two of your dice can really help you get the jump on things. She can quickly add extra damage or shields, she can manipulate the dice with her focus symbols, and she can help get resources into play faster. She ups your action economy and speeds things up in interesting ways.

Chewbacca pairs well with his smuggling buddy Han Solo. Point-wise, they complement each other very well. On top of that Chewie brings the pain no matter what form he comes in and his ability can cause enemy characters to deal damage to themselves.

The Upgrades

Chewbacca and the Bowcaster go together like peanut butter and jelly. On top of that, this is an upgrade that can transfer after a character with the Redeploy keyword.

Lone operative adds some extra utility and can really come in handy if you need a way to get some heath back.

Second Chance is a great way to come back from the brink. Instead of losing a character you get to heal 5 points of damage and (hopefully) get to keep them in the game for another round or two…

The Events

This card could be a game changer – if you can get it to trigger. If you can manage to roll high enough (or have enough dice in your pool to force this to happen consistently) then you could really do a number on your opponents. But you’re basically sacrificing your turn to do it…is the trade worth it?

This card pays off if you can get both copies out in a game…

Same with the Long Con. This is an interesting mechanic and but if you don’t have a way to go through your deck it could bite you later.

This is a card that lets you manipulate dice to the side you want – that always seems really handy.

This card could be another game changer – if your opponent is playing a really resource heavy round.

Last but not least is Maz’ Castle. This is a location that you can claim and it will net you 2 cards plus the ability to place cards from your hand back into the bottom of your deck. Card draw is always handy!
