40K: Play Shadow War:Armageddon Right Now
The release of Shadow War: Armageddon has caught everyone off guard. But if you want to play, you might still be in luck.
Shadow War: Armageddon went up for Pre-Order this past weekend and sold-out shortly after. And by shortly, we’re talking within minutes by some accounts. Games Workshop, apparently, had a hit on their hands and no one really expected it. If GW had expected it, maybe they would have had more stock set aside for web sales. If fans had expected it, they would have been ready to drop the money as soon as it went live (as I suspect some folks did).
Whatever the case, the boxed set is no longer available for pre-order, currently the web pages looks like this:
That was updated from “No longer available” to “Temporarily out of stock” which seems like a good thing. Maybe GW is making MORE of these kits as we speak. When you follow the store link you get this page:
There is no option to buy from the page but there is a note in the description.
This product will be released in stores on Saturday 8th April but is no longer available for pre-order here. Find your local store.

As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be a way to place an order for this game. If you missed the chance to buy it your best bet is to hound your FLGS or local GW store because retailers are going to get their shipments in this weekend. And based on the popularity and interest we’ve seen, those lines are probably already forming.
That’s the bad news. The good news is that if you DO want to get some games in you’re in luck – you just need to head to your FLGS to play there.
Retailer OP Kit
As we talked about earlier this month, Retailers are getting these Organized Play Kits. They come with a copy of the rulebook and rules for building your Kill Teams. Those same rules for Kill Team construction are available direct from Games Workshop HERE. This does mean you’ll need to build your list and then head to your FLGS to take a look at the rules. But hey, it’s better than nothing. The best part is those Retailers already have their kits – so you can play right now!
We know that the Terrain kits are on the way. I wouldn’t be shocked if we get a Shadow War: Armageddon rulebook release in the near future either. It’s not a perfect solution and come April 8th, I’m sure some fans who were planning on making a trip to purchase the box in store might end up disappointed.
Regardless of what the fall-out is with this Pre-Order mishap, it’s not the end Shadow War: Armageddon. There will be copies of the box in stores and those same stores will probably have a store copy of the rulebook around. So, if you really want to play Shadow War: Armageddon, you can! Just don’t be a jerk and hog the rulebook…
