Review: Gamemat.eu’s Badlands Terrain Set
Pimpcron has some things to say about this terrain set from Gamemat.euHi friends! It’s the world’s biggest hustler, Pimpcron, here! And I want to discuss this terrain set. Let’s jump in!
As always, these are pre-painted, well-detailed resin terrain pieces. There is no assembly required and they come straight out of the box ready to be put on the table. They are in a desert theme and they are quite hefty and durable.
I keep one of these mesas next to my bed in case an intruder comes in. I’m still trying to think of a cool catchphrase when he walks in, like “Taste the Rockbow!” or “I’m gonna make a Mesa your face!”
They’re still a work in progress.
As with their other terrain sets, I’m always surprised with how large the formations are. Look at the picture below and see how large 28mm figures are compared to these monsters. What ia lso like about them is that most of them feature flat-ish tops that you can put models on.
As you can see here, I feel that these terrain sets are perfect for a densely packed 4×4 board. For games like Malifaux, you need a lot of line of sight-blocking terrain. They are good for a 6×4 too, but I prefer to add other terrain because I like dense terrain. But I’ve played on plenty of boards that had less terrain than what’s in this set.
These terrain pieces are on one of Gamemat.eu’s game mats, by the way. I’ve bought several of them. This desert one is one of my all-time favorites. My camera makes these rock formations look paler than they are. They have a tan/peach color in many parts that match this mat better than it seems.
Verdict: Awesome
I have really strained to try to come up with something wrong with this set; for argument’s sake. Maybe that they are quite heavy? Or that they are large and thus take up more room in storage? I’m not blowing smoke here; I love them and haven’t seen a set like this around. And at $115 for the whole pre-painted set, what is there to be mad about?!
As you’ll see on their site, they are sold out but you can pre-order now. The re-stock will be April 15th so that seems to me like they are quite popular.
