The Runewars Miniatures Game already has a major expansion planned – the Latari Elves are heading your way next!

Fantasy Flight Games is already getting MORE products ready to roll for The Runewars Miniatures Game – and it’s not even out until the April 13th! We had a hint that there were 2 more races on the way and now FFG has confirmed it! Here come the Latari Elves…

Latari Elves Army Expansion $59.95

The Latari Elves Army Expansion ushers in a brand-new faction to the world of the Runewars Miniatures Game in the form of the Latari Elves. The expansion includes four new units, the Deepwood Archers, the Leonx Riders, the Aymhelin Scions and new hero Aliana of Summersong, enough to field an army of Latari Elves. The expansion also includes tokens, new mechanics and twelve upgrade cards for further customization.

Overall, the elves appear to be pretty tricksy compared to the Human and Undead factions. They are all about setting up lateral movements and they are very fast. Here’s a quick preview of some of the units.

The Latari Elves have some down-right funky moves on the tabletop. For example the Leonx Riders are probably the fastest unit on the table. With a speed 4 move at initiative 7 combined with a Charge+1 puts them at speed 5. “So what’s the big deal?” The movement templates in the box only go up to speed 4. We’re pretty sure you just use the 1-ahead to “complete” the charge at that point.

Aliana of Summersong is another quick moving unit for the elves. She can combine the two shift moves for some really crazy side-ways maneuvers. It will be like playing against a bull-fighter for the other armies out there!

Overall, these new Latari Elves are showing that FFG is going full steam ahead with the Runeswars Miniatures Game. They have plans for expansions, accessories, and Organized Play support for this year. The crazy part is the game hasn’t even hit shelves yet! But if you’ve been wanting to play a rank-and-file miniatures combat game that will have the full weight of one of the big gaming companies behind it then you should get prepped for the Runewars Miniatures Game.

Runewars Miniatures Game $99.95

For years, the armies of Waiqar the Undying have stayed within their borders, launching only minor raids across the border. But now, a nameless threat stirs within the Mistlands, and legions of undead cross into the realm of Terrinoth under Waiqar’s command! The Daqan Lords have sounded the call to war, and their finest generals lead armies of warriors and golems to take up defensive positions in the border territory of Roth’s Vale. The first battles of the next great war are about to begin.

RuneWars: The Miniatures Game is a two-player miniatures game of battles between the great powers of Terrinoth. In each game, you and your opponent will gather armies of miniatures and lead them into battle—blocks of infantry will maneuver for position, cavalry wings will wheel and slam into a weakened flank, and monstrous rune golems or carrion lancers will smash through formations of lesser warriors. Innovative command tools, two distinct factions, and countless ways to customize your experience combine to offer an unparalleled miniatures gaming experience in RuneWars. Finally, with forty-eight beautifully sculpted, unpainted figures, you’ll be able to paint and customize your armies to bring an entirely unique touch to your games and enter the hobby of miniatures painting!
